In 1943, the first echelon of New Zealand troops - all volunteers - returned to New Zealand on three months' leave. They were given to understand that their days on the front line were over. Fifty percent of the returned servicemen were declared unfit to resume their duties. The Prime Minister was caught in a dilemma; the soldiers were ordered to return to active duty. This documentary is the story of the returned soldiers and their revolt against authority.
