Her incisive no-nonsense interviewing skills and her ability to cut straight to the issue have won her the admiration of listeners and the respect of those she interviews. Checkpoint is New Zealand`s longest running radio programme, airing for the first time in 1967. It has evolved through the years from a current affairs show to become a hard-hitting news-focussed hour which rates well against its commercial radio competitors. In 2002 and again in 2003, Checkpoint won the Qantas media award for “Best Radio News Programme”. In 2002, Mary Wilson won the Qantas award for “Best Radio News Presenter”.
