He has served as chairman of the Independent Tertiary Education Providers of NZ (ITENZ) and on the boards of Pacific Co-operation Foundation, Ako Aotearoa, Volleyball NZ, and the Pacific Business Trust. John was awarded the NZ Order of Merit for services to sport, education and the Pasifika community and was named Wellingtonian of the Year for services to education in 2016.

    Alofa Dawn Latafale Auva’a, better known as Latafale Auva’a is a Samoan-New Zealand beauty pageant titleholder. She is the first woman to hold four Pacific regional titles by winning Miss Samoa New Zealand 2014, Miss Samoa 2014, Miss Pacific Islands 2014 and Miss World Samoa 2015. She’s a trained lawyer, and now a foreign policy officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
