Based on a true story of a young girl who is lost in the South Australian outback of the 1930s. The girl's father is swayed by his own racism and refuses the help of Albert - an Aboriginal tracker. As the search lengthens into days then weeks, the girl's mother turns to Albert for help. Tragically, Albert finds the girl too late. The film includes music and song, with the songs functioning as dialogue and expressing inner thoughts as in an opera. Haunting images of the landscape accompany this tale of racism, Intolerance and reconciliation.
