  • 8The $40-million deal to purchase Auckland's Queens Wharf is being criticised for its cost and lack of community consultation. The Government and the Auckland Regional Council have done a deal to purchase the wharf and transform part of it into "Party Central" for the 2011 Rugby World Cup and a cruise ship terminal.

  • 9With voting on the child discipline referendum yet to open, the Prime Minister has called the question ambiguous and the opposition leader says he won't be casting a vote. The citizens initiated referenda will cost around $9-million and is non-binding. It follows the ammendment to Section 59 of the Crimes Act last year which removes the defence of resonable force for any adult accused of assulting a child.
