  • 1Thousands of leaky home owners will miss out on half of the financial assistance package because their homes were signed off by private certifiers. The recently announced package involves the government and local authorities each paying 25 per cent of the repair costs, with homeowners picking up the remaining 50 per cent of the bill. But only those whose homes were certified by a council building inspector are eligible for the 25 per cent from their local authority.
