1As part of the Port Nicolson Block Claims Settlement Act, Matiu/Somes, Makaro/Ward and Mokopuna Islands reverted back to Taranaki Whanui ki Te Upoko o te Ika wardship; that was in September 2009. In November 2010 Te Hokitanga mai a Matiu took place; a ceremony to celebrate the return of the islands.
