1Te Kura Kaupapa M?ori o Nga Mokopuna Wellington was established in 1996 and based itself in Newtown. With growing role numbers, the school outgrew its premises there and eventually moved to its current location in Seatoun. The school takes its name 'Mokopuna' from one of the three islands in Wellington harbour. It's an ideal backdrop for their annual Kupe festival, a gala day, in which the students, parents, staff and supporters do their bit to raise money.
