Our guest on Māpuna this week is Wellington based singer songwriter Kirsten Te Rito. Who is one of only two artists who have been commissioned to perform at the Wellington Jazz Festival which runs in the capital from 25-29 October. Kirsten will be collaborating on the show with her partner, New Zealand pianist and composer James Illingworth and will perform on Sunday 29 October. The new piece she will be performing titled Māreikura, and draws inspiration from Māori cosmology and Atua Wāhine (female ancestresses) and incorporates taonga puoro.
