In lecture four, Jim Holt from the Department of History at the University of Auckland talks on United States politics and Vietnam. In the months preceding the lecture there was debate over whether the war was a civil war, aggression from the North, or a combination of the two. President Lyndon B. Johnson, when deciding the United States' future policies on Vietnam had take into account world opinion but also the "impact of his actions on American opinion".
