Opening of the NZBC TV Network
For the first time the NZBC is able to make use of a Television network linking all four channels, AKTV2, WNTV1, CHTV3 and DNTV2. It will simultaneously transmit news and topical programmes. Gilbert Stringer, Director General, New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation, inaugurates the service and talks about the work that has been required to get to this stage.

1First nationwide television network broadcast, simultaneously reaching all four regional NZBC TV stations. Introduced by the inaugural Director-General of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation, Gilbert Stringer, the broadcast was followed by the first NZBC TV Network News bulletin.
