The Olympics open in Montreal on 17th July 1976 but the whole structure of how the games are run is under question for things like; upholding the aims and ideals of the games; drug use; inflation and financing and how the Games could be self supporting. The massacre at the 1972 Games in Munich, West Germany, where Palestinian terrorists took Israeli team members hostage in the village, initially killing two of them. Later all died in an attempted rescue, including the terrorists. This started the debate on how, and if the Olympic goals were being achieved. Speakers are: Avery Brundage, former President, International Olympic Committee (IOC); Lord Killanin, President, International Olympic Committee; Jean Drapeau, Mayor, Montreal; Louis Laberg, President, Quebec Federation of Labour; Roger Rousseau, Head of the Montreal Olympic Organising Committee; Mike Lindsay, Shot-Put athlete; Professor Beckett, IOC Medical Commission.
