Charismatic Taranaki chief Titokowharu is at first a peacemaker, but his efforts are undermined by a series of unjust land confiscations. His goodwill strained to breaking point, Titokowharu declares war. Despite being vastly outnumbered, the old chief's innovative resistance fighting proves to be devastatingly effective against a foe that seriously underestimates him.
