It is Cumbria 1348, the year of the Black Death. A medieval mining village lives in fear of the advancing plague. A young boy, Griffin is haunted by a recurring dream of a far away celestial city and a hope for survival. Griffin sets out on a bizarre journey with five men from the village including his brother Connor.Their incredible adventure leads them to a shaft, rumoured to be a gateway to the other side of the earth. What they find on the other side of the tunnel is a modern day 20th century city. Bewildered by the flashing lights, buildings and cars the six fugitives must battle both technology and time in order to save their village.
