We follow the remarkable journey of Debbs Murray, she shares the moment her life changed. It was when she shared her lived experience for the first time in Breaking Silence Series 2. The impact of this was significant for Debbs and compelled her to form Eclipse Family Violence Services, where she now offers family violence training courses and consultation services for individuals and organisations. She draws on her unique practitioner-lived experience to encourage empathy and understanding for those working on the front line of violence in Aotearoa NZ. To date, Debbs has trained over 3,000 frontline persons. Debbs plays her Breaking Silence episode at the top of every session. We follow alongside a training session with Debbs and how she describes and visually represents what coercive control is and why an individual doesn’t ‘just leave’, something society grapples with and Debbs expertly demonstrates.

Breaking Silence captures many voices speaking a single truth - abuse thrives in secrecy, ending abusive behaviour requires self-knowledge and the courage to speak out.
