In Kandy, the procession honouring the most precious relic in the country, a tooth of the Buddha, is also the most spectacular and magical procession in Asia.

Vibrant costumes, music, dancing and cheering crowds – these are the ingredients of The World’s Most Amazing Festivals. Travelling to Mongolia, Guyana, Benin and Finland, as well as many more, this series goes behind the scenes of the most extraordinary events of the calendar than bring together a community. Each episode follows local families as they each prepare for and celebrate a specific historic festival, uncovering the most colourful traditions and rituals unique to each place. As festival traditions are passed down from generation to generation, we discover which parts of the festival have stood the test of time, and which have adapted to the modern world.
