Television New Zealand's mid-evening news bulletin, which delves deeper into the significant events and issues of the day,

  • 1During the past twenty-fours, million of television viewers round the world have watched the British Broadcasting Corporation's (BBC) dramatised documentary about a nuclear attack on Britain called 'Threads'. Obviously a Northern Hemisphere nuclear war would have devastating effects on that part of the world, but how would New Zealand be affected? Meanwhile, the campaign to avoid a nuclear war is continuing. In New Zealand a 17,000-signature petition has been delivered to MPs Fran Wilde and Neil Morrison, calling for a nuclear-free New Zealand and a withdrawal from all military alliances. In the United Kingdom, protests at Greenham Common have resulted in a fresh wave of arrests.
