A weekly Maori perspective on people, news, arts, and language from Television New Zealand (TVNZ).

  • 1For years, Maori culture has been the centrepiece of New Zealand tourism. However, for many within Maoridom, the image of the grass-skirted, haka performing natives have created a false picture of the true way of Maori life, and exploited their culture for profit. In 1983 Maori International announced it was to move into the area of Maori land development and tourism. However, there were problems from the beginning, with many opposed to Maori International taking over existing tourist ventures, such as Whakarewarewa in Rotorua. Interview with the Managing Director of Maori International, Kara Puketapu.
