1The smiles and laughter are well and truly over between former National Party leader Sir Robert Muldoon and his successor Jim McLay. With his first year as Opposition leader almost up, Jim McLay's biggest test has come, not from the Labour Government, but from back bencher Muldoon's bid to regain a seat on the Opposition front bench, perhaps even the National Party leadership itself. The crisis came to a head on Thursday last week with a war of words between the two men and their supporters within the National Party. Interview with both Sir Robert Muldoon and Jim McLay.
