Surrounded by thousands of civilian supporters, the Defence Minister and the Acing Armed Forces Chief, have vowed to fight to the death if Marcos moves against them. Some senior Ministers in the Marcos Government have openly defected to the rebels' side and the Senior Cardinal of the Catholic Church has encouraged everyone to support the rebellion.
