A weekly Maori perspective on people, news, arts, and language from Television New Zealand (TVNZ).

  • 1In February 1986, the waka Hawaiki-nui and its crew of five sailed from Tahiti to New Zealand (Aotearoa) without using any modern navigational equipment. Instead, the crew followed their seafaring ancestors, using the stars to plot their course. Now, despite efforts to keep the waka in New Zealand, it was kept under wraps until the French Polynesian Government shipped it back to Tahiti.
