5The European Community (EEC) has decided to suspend all fresh food imports from Eastern Europe in the wake of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. The accident at Chernobyl has sparked anti-nuclear protests in Western Europe, some of them violent. However, Soviet media is reporting that the situation is rapidly being brought under control. The official death toll is now four.
