  • 9The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRFU) has taken the first steps in dealing with the rebel rugby players currently touring South Africa as the Cavaliers. The Council has told players to urgently seek clearance to play in South Africa and to seek a statutory declaration that they are not being paid for the tour. Players not in New Zealand next Monday will not be eligible for All Black trials. The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) has changed its policy on South African tours as it faces the prospect of its top players heading to South Africa as part of a rebel team later in the year. In defiance of Australian Federal Government policy, the ARU says it will consider all invitations from South Africa.
