There is not enough money to fund all of the treatment options currently available. Heart surgery is one example of this quandary. Hospital budgets do not stretch far enough to allow them to treat all heart patients, many of who need quite simple, straightforward operations.In the Wellington Hospital region, there is money available to build new facilities for heart surgery, but not enough money to use them.
