A daily, midday, news package which featured an in depth interview about a current news topic. Viewers could phone in and ask questions of the key interviewee.

  • 1Police 1986 has been a difficult year for the police, who have attracted so much unfavourable attention. They have had a station burned down, rioters overpower them and officers have suffered assaults at the hands of the unruly. A police car was shot at, and one officer's home was firebombed. Sadly all this has occurred in the year that they commemorate 100 years of service to the New Zealand community. Last year they were awarded wage increases and an early retirement plan. However, this has failed to attract more recruits to the force. They are feeling overpowered, outnumbered and under-resourced and say that in this siege environment, the quality of policing is suffering. Discussion and viewer feedback with the President of the New Zealand Police Association, Keith Morrow.
