1Coup Fiji will not be represented at the South Pacific Forum meeting, which begins in Western Samoa on Friday. The campaign against the overthrow of the elected Bavadra Government in Fiji gained momentum today, with supporters of the deposed Prime MInister closing shops and bringing many services to a halt. Fourteen bus loads of Bavadra supporters were turned back by army roadblocks while trying to get to a rally in Suva. Harvesting of the sugar crops has been postponed indefinitely following more arson attacks in the west of Viti Levu.
2India's special envoy Eduardo Faleiro, sent to New Zealand for consultations on the Fiji crisis, met with Prime Minister David Lange today. Afterwards, Faleiro said he remained convinced of the need for economic sanctions against the military GOvernment in Suva. Tonight he met with Wellington's Indian community.
