  • 1The Japanese Way Unionists and company executives are meeting in Auckland to try to end a strike which has ended output at the Nissan factory for a month. At issue is the introduction of Japanese work practices, especially the right to use workers in different jobs. The Japanese way is meant to bring cooperation between workers and bosses, but at Nissan it has brought one of the most bitter industrial disputes this year. More New Zealand companies are going to Japan to learn about the Japanese Way. Studio interview with Ken Douglas from the Council of Trade Unions (CTU) and Steve Marshall of the Employers Federation.
