  • 10Worldwatch A preview of the upcoming Moscow Summit which will be United States President Ronald Reagan's fourth meeting with Soviet leader MIkhail Gorbachev, and his first visit to the Soviet Union. A look at the preparations underway in Moscow for the Summit. It has been fourteen years since an American President last visited the Soviet Union, and in that time the attitude of the two countries toward each other has moved from enthusiasm for détente to hardening suspicion. However, the Soviet people are now starting to change their minds about the United States, thanks largely to the Soviet media being less 'selective' about the way they portrayed America and its people. American networks today began transmitting live from Moscow, reporting on the new spirit of Glasnost (openness).
