Television New Zealand's flagship evening news bulletin.

  • 1Finance Minister Roger Douglas has informed Caucus that he can no longer continue in his role under David Lange's leadership, and that if Caucus re-elects Lange as Prime Minister, he will resign his position. David Lange retaliated by firing Douglas from Cabinet and replacing him with David Caygill, prompting Associate Finance Minister Trevor De Cleene to resign in sympathy with Douglas. The foreign currency market went into a panic, leading to the New Zealand dollar plummeting in value. Reaction from Australia, and a background of the rise and fall of Roger Douglas. Followed by a live interview with political reporter Alastair Carthew.
