  • 1Top level talks were held in Wellington this evening between police and prison officers' representatives and the Government in an effort to resolve the standoff over superannuation. The justice system is grinding to a halt tonight as the prison officers' ban on accepting new inmates clogs police cells. Some jury trials have been postponed, while some offenders may have to be bailed into the community.
