1999 Greens Opening Text: We’re destroying our children’s inheritance. Mike Ward: “It doesn’t have to be like this. We live in one of the world’s most beautiful and abundant countries. Among the cleverest most creative and caring people.” Jeanette Fitzsimons: “New Zealand needs a fresh vision, a vision we can all share, which puts people and nature first. The Green party looks beyond tomorrow, because we know the work we do has to last for generations.” Text: Pollution. Deforestation. Rod Donald: “Loss of forests and pollution threaten our very existence and the survival of the other species we share this planet with. Even our national icon the kiwi is facing extinction.” Text: Make your vote last for generations. Go Green with your Party Vote. Green. Jeanette Fitzsimons: “We will protect our forests and our oceans and pass on our natural heritage in a better state than we received it. Caring for our fragile and beautiful country can employ our people and secure our children’s inheritance.” Text: Pesticides. Chemicals. Do you know what you’re eating? Text: Make your vote last for generations. Go Green with your Party Vote. Green. Text: Better health. Sue Kedgley: “Our children deserve safe food. We all do, and the world is crying out for more organic produce.” Ian Ewen-Street: “The Green commitment to organics offers a safer, healthier and more prosperous future. By moving New Zealand to organics we can give substance to our clean green image, gain an edge in world markets and create jobs in local communities.” Text: Better environment. Better economy. Text: A few more roads…going nowhere. Sue Kedgley: “Cities should bring people together, not be clogged with congestion.” Text: Make your vote last for generations. Go Green with your Party Vote. Green. Text: Less pollution. Happier, healthier communities. Jeanette Fitzsimons: “We’ll make it easier for people to get to where they’re going with light rail, faster bus lanes, better walkways and cycle paths. We’ll encourage people to live closer to where they go to work, play and go to school.” Text: A better place to live. “Each of us just making one or two less trips in our cars will dramatically reduce the amount of traffic on the roads. That’s healthier and safer for all of us.” Text: Where is the justice? Who cares for the victims? Nandor Tanczos: “Real justice is about people, not just the defence versus the crown.” Sue Bradford: “We need to put victims first, make offenders face up to what they’ve done, this cuts down costs in social spending and makes for a happier safer society. Text: Safer communities. Text: Make your vote last for generations. Go Green with your Party Vote. Green. And we need to work on what makes people turn to crime in the first place.” Text: Frustration. Disconnection. Unemployment. Ian Ewan-Street: “If we want to improve our economic situation, we have to start making changes locally.” Text: Stronger community. More employment. Rod Donald: “Strong communities mean a strong nation. We should be promoting local enterprise and employment, community-based health centres and local schools. We don’t have to sacrifice people to fix the economy. With green policies we can have both.” Jeanette Fitzsimons: “The Green party looks forward to working with all New Zealanders to find the answers to today’s problems. If we think ahead we can find viable, realistic solutions to improve New Zealand’s future. Remember, your party vote could make a difference for generations to come. With a Green voice in parliament New Zealand could provide the role model the planet is looking for.” Nandor Tanczos: “So put a tick in the circle next to the Green party and go Green with your party vote.” Text: Make your vote last for generations. Go Green with your Party Vote. Green.
