  • 1The Hundred Years War One month ago the British rugby union poached the hottest property in rugby league to the dismay of league officials and fans alike. This player defection may signal the endgame of a century long war between the two codes. Correspondent: Cameron Bennett Producer: David Lomas The war between Rugby League and Rugby Union is hotting up. 'The 100 Years War' between the sporting codes has taken a dramatic turn towards Rugby Union. League is now watching in panic as Union lures its top players. About 10 years ago it looked as if professional Rugby League would bury amateur Rugby Union. Big names like John Gallagher and Inga Tuigamala walked the walk after the big money talked. Cameron Bennett travelled to the north of England, to the heart of English League to meet Henry Paul - the pinup boy of English League who's the latest to deflect - and finds out about the bizarre compromise to keep players in the game and on side. • 2Officer Down A veteran police officer who was on the scene twice when fellow officers were gunned down. The second was his colleague who was shot at Aramoana in 1990. A decade later he is homeless and trying to get arrested so he can get the psychiatric help he is seeking. Correspondent: Mike Valentine Producer: Stephen Butler He's an ex-cop who spent 14 years answering the distress calls of others - but now he's an 'Officer Down' and out - running out of hope that anyone will successfully deal with his own distress. Frank Van Der Eik is at breaking point - again. And in a desperate bid for help he's come to 60 Minutes with his problem. He is suffering from a chronic disorder attributed to the trauma of his previous years as a cop. He struggles with horrific flashbacks from his past - and has tried to commit suicide to escape the pain more than once. Now a self-confessed marijuana addict, Van Der Eik uses the drug to cope, but he wants help to overcome the disorder that is destroying his life, and has already destroyed his career. Mike Valintine talks with Van Der Eik, a former frontline cop left with nowhere to turn. [09/09/01]

  • 3Antique Roadshow The long running US television show that has become dear to the hearts of many Americans who have heirlooms to display. Correspondent: Dan Rather In the season of the reality TV show, some might be surprised to learn that America's longest running reality show is on the PBS channel. 'Antiques Roadshow' is part history lesson, part treasure hunt and pure greed. The TV show has become an addiction for the millions of people who watch it religiously each week. The show has convinced many of its fans that they may have an antique worth a fortune hidden in the house or hanging in the hallway. The program may even have replaced winning the lottery as America's favourite get-rich-quick fantasy. 60 Minutes II Anchor Dan Rather provides a behind-the-scenes look at Antiques Roadshow as it hunts for that treasure in the attic.
