1The relationship between New Zealand and Samoa is tonight on a guilt free footing. A few hours ago, at Samoa's fortieth Independence Day celebrations, Prime Minister Helen Clark apologised for injustices done under NZ colonial rule.

2Police this morning handcuffed several kaumatua who were protesting at the site of a new jail in Northland. The Minister for Corrections ordered police onto the site at Nga Wha near Kaikohe.
