A Tenei Raatapu: i runga i a Marae — Derek Fox presents issues of particular interest to Maori. Nga Kaupapa O Marae ¦ About The Show — Welcome to Marae, the only Maori language live-to-air current affairs/ magazine programme on television. Marae has developed over the years to become an award-winning programme focusing on the Maori approach to life in modern New Zealand. Since 1992, Marae has examined social and political developments affecting Maori. The Marae team of reporters, researchers, directors and studio staff have three goals. To excite viewers about the vibrant culture within the Maori community. To educate and inform viewers about issues impacting on and important to Maori. And finally, to motivate viewers to take an active role in understanding the diverse opinion of Maori towards New Zealand and its place in the world. In an age of dynamic social and technological change Marae seeks to remind Maori of the richness of their culture. For non-Maori viewers Marae will bring a greater understanding of the Maori lifestyle to their living rooms. Marae is funded 100% by Te Mangai Paho. [Television New Zealand, Sunday 27 October 2002, 20:36:22] Kai Time is a new item featured on Marae over the winter. Pete Peeti and Ngarue Ratapu from Rotorua place the essence of the wharekai in front of the camera. The end result? Good food, good korero, good times!
