1Dirty Tricks Having turned her back on national politics, Merepeka Raukawa-Tait, former co-leader of the Christian Heritage Party is now running for a seat on the Masterton District Council. But her involvement in local politics is proving to be just as controversial. Last month Tait was forced to deny publicly that she was not, among others things, living in sin, bankrupt or a lesbian. Now she has to contend with the fact that her former campaign manager, Adam Owens, appears intent on bringing about her political downfall. He has even attempted to enlist the help of her old sparring partner, the Reverend Graham Capill. Mayor Georgina Beyer says this is all very �mucky� � but it�s a great soap opera.

2Child Killer Lionel Tate at twelve, was much older and much bigger than his six year old friend Tiffany Eunich. But they seemed to enjoy each other�s company. However, by the end of a day spent playing together, Tiffany had died of massive internal injuries. Two days later, Lionel was charged with her murder. Florida State law allowed Lionel to be tried as an adult and he was indicted for first degree murder. When found guilty, the Judge sentenced him to life imprisonment without parole. Now people on both sides, including Tiffany�s mother, the Prosecutor and a former juror are asking for clemency. One child is dead but should the other be sentenced to life? Lionel still maintains it was an accident and that Tiffany was hurt while they were play wrestling and he has since recanted that version of events to prison doctors. But Lionel�s new testimony, while certainly more plausible is just as shocking and equally sad.
