  • 1For two weeks the nation has been in limbo waiting for the final special vote count. But life goes on, with British Royal Prince Andrew visiting New Zealand; a new Maori Women's Welfare League (MWWL) President plus the controversial sacking of a Maori TV presenter for being part of the leaking of e-mails circulated by Maori TV asking staff to reveal if they were members of the Maori Party. The Greens organised a hui with business leaders hoping to improve their image, but failed to impress some of the business leaders. The Maori Party announced it would undergo an intense series of hui to get guidance from their members over how to approach Government and possible coalition deals.

  • 2On election night 54% of Maori voters gave their party vote to Labour. A Marae Digipoll shows that while 35.8% of those who gave their party vote to Labour did it out of trust, over 58% gave their party vote to prevent a National led Government. The poll also shows that Maori voters would prefer to see The Maori Party working with Labour.
