  • 2The Police Minister has defended Police Commissioner Howard Broad after allegations he had allowed a video containing bestiality to play at his house back in 1981. While some were trying to draw parallels with the sick police culture in recent times, King says she has every confidence in Broad, who has said he wasn't even aware the video was being played at the time and when he found out he was annoyed by it.

  • 3Hundreds gathered in Christchurch today to farewell Jane Young, one of the two 16 year olds killed in a hit and run at a Christchurch street party last weekend. On Saturday night though there was a more controversial memorial held for Jane and Hannah Rossiter. In the same way hundreds gathered for the party, summonsed by text, young people organised a "cruise" to commemorate the two girls.
