Weeknight prime-time current affairs interview show

  • 1His son became known as Australia's most famous detainee in the world's most notorious detention centre. David Hicks, a former horse trainer from South Australia was captured in Afghanistan by the Northern Alliance, who were fighting the Taliban and David was allegedly helping the Taliban. He was handed over to the US Authorities where he was transported to Guantanamo Bay. He was sentenced to seven years and sent back to Australia in May last year to complete his sentence. David was finally released in December. Terry Hicks, David's father campaigned not only for his son's release but for a fair trial. He went to extraordinary lengths. He travelled to Pakistan and Afghanistan to retrace his son's footsteps and even now that his son is a free man he continues to campaign for others detained in Guantanamo Bay.
