  • 2Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare, chronic, debilitating disorder that most frequently presents in early adulthood and usually continuous throughout the life of the patient. There is a drug available to cure the condition, but it costs around half a million dollars for each of the eight patients per year, and unlike in 40 countries around the world, it is not subsidised in New Zealand. PNH sufferers are therefore launching an appeal for the drug to be funded. Interview with a single father who has the disease followed by an interview with Pharmac Medical Director Dr Pete Moodie.
