2Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) is a rare, chronic, debilitating disorder that most frequently presents in early adulthood and usually continuous throughout the life of the patient. There is a drug available to cure the condition, but it costs around half a million dollars for each of the eight patients per year, and unlike in 40 countries around the world, it is not subsidised in New Zealand.
