Māori Television’s award-winning current affairs series Native Affairs, offers analysis of the news from a “native” perspective.

  • 1A Silent Genocide There were reports late last year about members of an indigenous Brazilian tribe, the Guarani-Kaiow, threatening to commit suicide en masse if they were evicted from their turangawaewae. It turns out, their comments had been mistranslated. Instead they'd declared they'd rather be massacred than leave their lands where their ancestors are buried. Native Affairs has discovered an iwi staring down the barrel of extinction. A report from Brazil, followed by a studio interview with reporter Renee Kahukura-Iosefa and producer Adrian Stevanon.
