  • 3A series of droughts in Hawkes Bay over recent years, culminating in this year's drought, the most severe since 1945, has led to the Council imposing water restrictions across the region. Growers and farmers are infuriated at the threat to their livelihoods. The Council wants to build a dam at Ruataniwha which will come into service in 2017. While farmers are welcoming the initiative, some growers believe the dam will be in the wrong place be of no benefit to them. A studio discussion about the dam.
