  • 1Taxpayers were told that the Government's asset sales programme would likely raise between $5 billion and $7 billion. However, the latest partial floats appear to be fizzing out, with Meridian Energy attracting fewer so-called 'Mum and Dad investors' and a lower price than hoped. With Genesis Energy and Air New Zealand next to be put up for partial sale, questions are being asked about whether it is time to re-think he asset sales programme. • 2Texas oil giant Anadarko will begin deep sea oil drilling off the coast of New Zealand this summer as part of its exploratory programme. This week, the risks of deep sea oil drilling were laid bare in a report commissioned by Greenpeace. Its scientific modelling suggests a deep sea oil spill would devastate large stretches of New Zealand's coastline and have a catastrophic effect on the economy. However, the report has been dismissed as scaremongering by both the Government and the oil industry. A look at some of the report's findings followed by an interview with oil expert Professor Rosalind Archer and Greenpeace New Zealand's Climate Change Spokesperson, Simon Boxer.
