2Texas oil giant Anadarko will begin deep sea oil drilling off the coast of New Zealand this summer as part of its exploratory programme. This week, the risks of deep sea oil drilling were laid bare in a report commissioned by Greenpeace. Its scientific modelling suggests a deep sea oil spill would devastate large stretches of New Zealand's coastline and have a catastrophic effect on the economy. However, the report has been dismissed as scaremongering by both the Government and the oil industry.
