  • 1The Coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen Camilla Follow every moment of a special day in British history, including the procession, the coronation in Westminster Abbey and the appearance of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. Kirsty Young, Huw Edwards, Sophie Raworth and Claire Balding are your guides for the historic coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla on Saturday 6 May. From her studio outside Buckingham Palace, Kirsty will be joined by guests, including friends and colleagues of the King and Queen, who will share their personal insights. Throughout the morning, a series of films will explore the King’s passions, and a broad range of experts will join Kirsty to provide analysis of this new chapter in British history. Across the capital, a team of presenters will be in key locations to report and commentate throughout the day as events unfold. As the armed forces prepare for one of the largest military parades in living memory, JJ Chalmers will speak to servicemen and women from across the UK and the Commonwealth as they arrive in London to take their positions. Providing commentary along the ceremonial route, Claire Balding will cover the pomp, pageantry and festivities as the King’s procession makes its way through the iconic streets of ceremonial London. Anita Rani will be amongst the crowds, talking to members of the public who have travelled to the capital from across the country to be part of the celebrations. Centre stage will be Westminster Abbey, where Sophie Raworth will be outside, speaking to those lucky enough to have received an invitation. Within the abbey, viewers will have a front row seat as Huw Edwards provides commentary from the moment the abbey's doors open, covering the music, processions and the arrival of guests, including friends, famous faces, faith leaders, heads of state, global and British royalty. As the King and Queen arrive for this landmark moment in history, Huw will guide viewers through the intricacies of the symbolic oaths and sacred Christian rituals of the day’s centrepiece – the ancient coronation ceremony. The pageantry and celebrations will continue, once the ceremony has concluded, with commentary of the spectacular coronation procession as the newly crowned King Charles III and Queen Camilla make their way back to Buckingham Palace. In-depth coverage will continue as the ceremonial day of events culminates with crowds gathering on the Mall to witness the world-famous balcony appearance of the royal family and a special fly-past to commemorate Their Majesties’ coronation day.
