Many Tuhoe whanau living in Wellington were welcomed into the TSB Arena in the heart of the city, where they gifted a new taonga to the organising committee in memory of their respected leader, Hema Temara, who passed away several years ago. A well-known figure, a respected kuia fluent in te reo Maori and its customs, and a kapa haka expert, Hema was a key leader of the long-standing kapa haka group Tu Te Maungaroa of Tuhoe ki Poneke. This year also marked the return of her children and grandchildren to the competition stage after the kapa had been on hiatus for six years. We're unable to provide subtitles. Although they were finally back at home after nearly two months on the road, the Warriors were unable to make the most of the advantage, The top three teams had already secured their finals places before the match, but the Southern Steel and the Tactix still had plenty to play for over the weekend as they battled to determine whether next week's elimination final would be hosted in Dunedin or Christchurch.
