Able 2016 (wind whistling softly) NARRATOR: Once upon a time, in deep winter, a queen was admiring the falling snow when she saw a rose blooming in defiance of the cold. Reaching for it, she pricked her finger and three drops of blood fell. And because the red seemed so alive against the white, she thought, if only I had a child as white as snow, lips as red as blood, hair as black as a raven's wings and all with the strength of that rose. Soon after, a daughter was born to the queen and was named Snow White. And she was adored throughout the kingdom, as much for her defiant spirit as for her beauty. (squawks) (indistinct conversation and laughter) (birds twittering) (door opens) We found it in the woods. -It's injured, Mother. -(bird squawks) It must have broken its wing. Don't worry, it will heal in time. I'll look after it. You possess rare beauty, my love. In here. Never lose it. It will serve you well when you become queen. Careful you don't fall. I'm just getting you an apple. -Here you go. -Thank you. William! William! NARRATOR: The next winter was the harshest in memory, and Snow White's mother passed away. The king was inconsolable. Taking advantage of his grief, a dark and mysterious army appeared and lured him into battle. (growling) Hyah! (neighs) What devil spawned this army? Send them back to hell! No prisoners! (men yelling) (yelling) (soldiers clamouring, swords clashing) (grunting) (grunts) (yells) (yells) NARRATOR: The dark army was defeated, but what would soon come to pass was far darker. Sire! Prisoner. (gasping softly) Fear not. You will come to no harm from me or my men. What is your name, my lady? Ravenna, sire. NARRATOR: So enchanted by her beauty was the king that he forgot, for the first time, his broken heart, and the very next day, she would become his wife. You're so beautiful. That's kind, child. Especially when it is said that yours is the face of true beauty in this kingdom. Come. This all must be difficult for you. I, too, lost my mother when I was a young girl. I can never take your mother's place. Never. But I feel that you and I are bound. I feel it there. Your heart. (pipe organ playing, choir singing magnificent melody) You will be the ruin of me. Indeed, my lord. I was ruined by a king like you once. I replaced his queen -- an old woman. And, in time, I, too, would have been replaced. Men use women. (choking) They ruin us, and when they are finished with us... (whispers): they toss us to the dogs like scraps. (choking) What have you given me? When a woman stays young and beautiful forever, the world is hers. (panting) First, I will take your life, my lord. And then I'll take your throne. (grunts) (panting) (portcullis clanking and rattling) Welcome, brother. My queen. NARRATOR: She had tricked her way into the kingdom with a phantom army. She now welcomed a very real one. (footsteps running) (gasps) (clamouring) -William! -Snow, get out! Snow! I can't leave! -The princess! -No! No! Get out of here! Go! -Hyah! Hyah! -(neighs) William! Don't leave me! Father, we must go back! We must! No! -We've lost her! -No! No! No! (screaming) Don't leave me! William! Out. Out! (door closes) Mirror, mirror... on the wall... ...who's the fairest of them all? It is you, my queen. Yet another kingdom falls to your glory. Is there no end to your power and beauty? NARRATOR: So poisonous was the reign of Ravenna that nature turned on itself and people turned on each other. The land died, And all that time, she kept Snow White imprisoned, high up in the north tower. (blowing softly) (whispering): Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. (girl sobbing in distance) (door clanks, locks clicking) (footsteps receding) Hello? Hello? -What is your name? -I am Greta. -What happened to you? -All the girls in our village were taken. I was trying to reach Duke Hammond's castle when I was caught. Duke Hammond? Is he alive? Does he still fight in my father's name? You're the king's daughter. The night the king died, we were told all in the castle were slain. And William? Is the duke's son still alive? I don't know, Princess. What will they do to me? (water trickling) (muttering, grunting) Do you remember when we were children begging for scraps, like those wretches? Yes, sister. Am I not kinder? Yes. These two were captured leading an ambush on one of our supply trains. (tapping finger) (jewellery clinking) Your son? Handsome. Obviously, a debt owed to your mother. There was a time I would have lost my heart to a face like yours. And you, no doubt, would have broken it. -Iain, no! -(groans) (pained gasping) (grunts) (panting) You would kill your queen? Such courage. Such beauty. But how strong is your heart? No... My son... (young man grunting, gasping) My son! (grunting) Leave him. Let him return to the duke and speak of the generosity of his queen. Out. Out! (groaning) (exhales with a grunt) (jewellery clinking) (gasps) (sighs) Magic comes at a lofty price. And the expense grows. You look... Old. Tired. My power... fades. Shh. (kisses) I have something for what ails you. (whimpering) Shh. (soft whimpering) (hissing) (grunts) (exhales) (wheezing) Greta? Greta. Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is fairest of them all? on this day, one has come of age on this day, one has come of age fairer even than you. She is the reason your powers wane. Who is it? Snow White. Snow White? She is my undoing? I should have killed her when she was a child. Be warned. Her innocence and purity is all that can destroy you. But she is also your salvation, Queen. Take her heart in your hand, and you shall never again need to consume youth. You shall never again weaken or age. Immortality. Immortality... forever. Finn! Brother... bring me the king's daughter. (squawking) (squawking) (grunts) (distant door clanking open) (panting) (key turning in lock) (door creaking) Did I wake you? Are you always awake when I watch you? You've never come in before. My sister won't allow it. She wants you all to herself. I'm afraid of her. And not of me? No. Fear not, Princess. You will never again be locked in this cell. What does she want from me? Your beating heart. (grunting and groaning) (laughing) (yells) (frustrated grunting) Get me out of here! No! -Greta. -(Finn grunting) -Go. -FINN: Get me out of here! No! -Go. -No! (panting) (birds chirping) (low, indistinct chatter in distance) (panting) Stop her! Catch her! (birds squawking) Seize her! (birds squawking) (gasps) (grunts, groans) Get to the gate! (grunting) Bring her back to me! (portcullis clanking) (portcullis thuds) (gasps) (gasping) (chirping) (squawking) (snorts softly) (horse snorting) (thunder rumbling) (horse grunts) (horses neighing) (horses neighing) (neighing) (grunts) (neighing) (hoofbeats approaching) (horses neighing) (neighing) (grunting, panting) (birds squawking) (branches creaking) -(animal shrieks) -(gasps) (coughs) (gasping) (coughing) (animal growling) (grunting) (whimpering, animals chittering) (grunting) (gasping) (whimpers) (chittering) (bird squawking) (whooshing) (grunting) (panting) How is it that an innocent young girl makes a fool of my brother?! Armed only with a nail. If she'd had a sword, she'd have taken my kingdom. "Bring me the king's daughter." And you let her slip right through your tiny little fingers. How? You swore that you would protect me! You swore! Now there's no one I can trust. No one. There's no loyalty, no loyalty. None! Not even from you! Where is she?! She was chased into the Dark Forest... where the men lost her. She's no good to me in the Dark Forest, lost! I need her heart! You failed me, Finn! Have I not given all to you?! Have I... not given you all? Yes, sister. (soft whimpering) Shh... (crackling) Quiet. I have no powers in the Dark Forest. You have to find me someone. Someone who knows it. Someone who can hunt her. (grunts) (chickens clucking, onlookers chatting) You owe me money from my pocket and money for the girl. Well, you know, I, uh... I seem to have drunk it all, but you're welcome to it when it comes out again. (laughter, chatter) (grunting) You've gone too far. I want my money! Aye... here it is! ONLOOKERS: Ooh! (coughing) (grunting) (horse neighs) -Oh! -(laughing) (laughter slows, distorts) (grunting) The queen demands your presence. Can't you see I'm having a bath? (grunts) (whispering): Trust me on this, sister. (doors clanking open) All right, all right! Hey! My brother tells me you are a widower. A drunkard. And one of few who has ventured into the Dark Forest. Aye. One of my prisoners has escaped there. -Then he's dead. -She. (chuckling): She is certainly dead. Find her. Bring her to me. No, I've been to that forest; I'm not going back. You will be rewarded handsomely. What good is gold to me if I'm lying dead with the crows picking at my eyes? Why is she of such value? That is none of your concern. I'll determine what concerns me, thank you. You will do this for me, huntsman! And if I refuse? Do me the favour, I beg of you. To his knees. (grunting) So, you wish to be reunited with your beloved? You do not speak of my wife. (laughing) You miss her. What would you give to see her again? You know of my powers. Bring me the girl, and I will bring back your wife. Nothing can bring her back. I can. A life... ...for a life. (birds squawking) She can't have gone far. All right, do exactly as I do. It's a bad idea. (panting) (distant bird calling) Stay here. (animals calling) (gasping) (birds screeching and squawking) (grunts) (birds calling in distance) (birds squawking) -(screams) -Come here! -No! Will you help me? Please. Please, the queen's going to kill me. -Sure she is. -She's going to rip out my heart. Quick work. Hey! Well done, huntsman. Hand her over. What do you intend to do with her? Why do you care? You want her? Hey! Give me what I was promised. You did your job well. Now keep your word. -He'll kill us both. -Shut up. -He will. -I said shut up! (Snow White whimpering) No, no. I'll keep my word when the queen keeps hers. Where's my wife? He's going to betray you. My sister has many powers. She can take life away or sustain it, but she can't bring your wife back from the dead, you fool. I want her back! (grunting) (groans) (grunting and groaning) (grunting) (hissing) (coughs, groans) (wheezing) (groaning) (echoing): I will find you! -(whimpers) -Shh, shh, shh. Quiet. All right? (muffled grunting) Hey, what the hell is going on? Who are you? Why does the queen want you dead? She wants everyone dead-- all of us. What makes you so damn valuable? You should know. You're the one hunting me. Forget it. Should have never got involved in the queen's business. What did I get in? Stupid... Where are you going? Getting away from you. You're trouble, is what you are. I need to get to the duke's castle. There's an army there. Oh, the duke's army? (laughing) Bunch of farmers and milkmaids with pitchforks. (spits) I know sheep that have more fight in them. I'm valuable. That's why you're here, isn't it? -(groaning) -If you return without me, you're dead. If you leave me, I'm dead. Just for argument's sake, -how much reward? Hmm? -However much is enough. At least 30 gold pieces... A hundred. Help me. Who are you? Maybe you should have asked the queen that. I don't trust you. I've given you my word. I still don't trust you. But you have a deal. (spits) Give me that... before you lose a finger. work's picked up, and we've added six more jobs a day. UPBEAT MUSIC Since becoming a ready business a year ago, work's picked up, and we've added six more jobs a day. I've put this down to our new way of working. Everyone's on the same page, making managing jobs simple as. I don't think we've ever been so busy. There's more cash in the till, and we've even brought on a new bloke. Ooh, a bit cold, mate. More Kiwi businesses are benefitting from being ready. You can too. THOMAS: She killed my brave Iain with just the palm of her hand, and then she drew a dagger from her side with no blood. She cannot be killed. But there is more. The princess is alive. (quietly): What? Where is my son? (horses neighing, men yelling) (yelling) (grunting and groaning) (groans) (grunting and groaning) (panting) We have word of the princess. Ravenna has kept her all these years. She lives? Well... THOMAS: She escaped the castle, into the Dark Forest. I'm going after her. DUKE HAMMOND: We don't know if she survived. William! What? You ventured beyond the castle walls again, disobeying my orders. We're all that's left, don't you understand? I cannot afford to lose any more of my men. I'm going alone. I will not lose my only son. You don't know the Dark Forest. Then I'll find somebody who does. I will not abandon her a second time. (animal screeching) (low growling) (hissing) (whimpers) No! (hissing) The forest gains its strength from your weakness. (grunts) Do you drink to drown your sorrows or your conscience? What concern is it of yours why I drink? I suppose a man's sorrows are his own. What does a young girl like you know about sorrow? (Snow White whimpers as fabric rips) Don't flatter yourself. Now, stay close. (thunder rumbling) Do you need a bowman? I have a bowman. Kill him. I said, do you need a bowman? (groans) Here, I want to show you something. Which is your lead foot? If someone comes at you, you raise this arm up, and you block and use their strength against them. You're small, so wait until they're close, and you drive it through their heart to the hilt. You understand? You do not hesitate. You look in their eyes, and do not pull it out until you see their soul. I couldn't do that. Well, you might not have a choice. (eerie, distant screeches and moans) Wait... Is this the edge of the Dark Forest? Aye. -What is it? -Shh. -(rumbling) -(gasps) (growling) Troll! (grunts, gasps) (growls) (roars) Go! Run! (grunts) (roaring) (growling) -(roars) -(yells) (roars) (panting) (moans softly) I told you to run. If I had, you'd be dead. (distant animal calls) (water sloshing) Only demons or spirits pass through the Dark Forest. Which are you? We're fugitives from the queen. We mean you no harm. 1 Where are all the men? Gone. (groans) You got nothing to drink? You have travelled far. Carried a great burden. I've had worse jobs. (groans) Anyway... ...she's not that heavy. You don't know who she is. What do you mean? Why? Who is she? Maybe it needs a skirt or a dress or something. That's nice. How about a face? Your mother wants to see you. Why didn't you tell me? 'Cause I'd think it was too difficult a task? You'd be right. Didn't trust you. -SNOW WHITE: I'm sorry. -Yeah. Our scars protect us. Without beauty, we are worthless to the queen. It's a sacrifice we made so we could raise our children in peace while their fathers are at war. And you... your sacrifice will come. You must rest. How can you desert her when you know the truth? Aye, I know the truth. That's why she should be as far away from me as possible. Anything I ever cared about was taken away from me. Not this time. She's safer here with you. (quiet crackling) (fire crackling, women screaming in distance) Lily! Lily, come on! Come on! (women screaming) Run, rats, run! Find her! Find her! Come on. Get in the boats! Get in the boats! Lily! (neighing) (screams) (grunts) (groans) (women screaming in distance) (neighing) (screaming) (grunts) (grunts) (grunts) In there, baby. There you go. Come on. -(screaming) -No! No! No! -Come on, let's go. -No! We have to help them! -You will. Go! Go! -Come on! Your beauty is all that can save you, Ravenna. This spell will make your beauty your power and protection. By fairest blood, it is done. Here. Drink, drink. (speaking exotic language) But be warned. By fairest blood, this spell can be undone. (people shouting, screaming faintly) Avenge us! (both panting) (groans) (coughing) I'm sorry. -I'm sorry. I didn't... -You're not. -I am. You left us. We should never have been there. Hey, look at me. I'll take you to Duke Hammond's, okay? All right? You have my word. (grunts) -Wait! -(screams) (grunting) (laughs) This is our lucky day. Oh, no. Dwarves. The hedge-pig I loathe most in the world -lands right in our lap. -Come on, Beith. Is this how you treat a friend? Oh, no, no, no, you puttock. This is how I treat a friend. -(groans) -(dwarves chuckle) She's pretty. BEITH: Mm. And who's this, eh? This an errant apprentice or captive? This man is helping me. -We should kill them both. -Yeah. He's caused us nothing but trouble. Skewer him and leave her to rot. I don't like killing girls. -I do. -Good. Leave her alone, Duir. He's got nothing. One silver coin and an empty codpiece. -(groans) -Two days we sat here. What for? Nothing. -(groans) -We should have stayed by the river. -What a waste of time! -Oh, cut us down, Beith. I have gold I can pay you. It's not here, it's hidden back in the woods. -Hmm. -(dwarves chuckle) Shut your ugly mug, huntsman. If you had any pennies, you would have pissed it away on mead by now. Yeah, cut us down, then I'll show you. Yeah, pull the other one, you lying dangler. Tell them the truth, huntsman. There's no time. I have to take this girl to Hammond's. -She's not safe here. -Oh. Well, my little heart bleeds for you. We should chop them up and feed them to the wolves. -Yeah! -Yes! -(groans) Who is she? She's worth a lot of gold to me. Which I'm happy to share with you stupid little dwarves. (groans) Stop that! Gold is worth nothing to any of you if you're all dead! The queen's men hunt us. -They're very close. -Shut up. -You have love for the queen? -Oh, we have no love for the queen. -(spits) -Then you fight against her? -No one fights against the queen. We lost everything when the king died. -We fight only for ourselves. -Yes. My father was King Magnus. (chuckles) Muir... does she speak the truth? Yes. She is of the blood. She is destined, Beith. I see an end to the darkness. (horse neighs in distance) Riders! They found us! If you don't cut us down, -we'll all be killed! -I don't like this, Beith. Smells like trouble. You'll find your weight in gold if you cut us down now! Shut up, Princess. Queen's riders! And they're coming this way! We'll take her, but not him. What? No, both of us! Oh, cut them both down, Gort! Let's get the hell out of here. Move it! Move it! (horse neighs) They're close. (dwarves conversing indistinctly) (squirrel chittering) (insects buzzing) (lilting, melodic chirping) Blasted fairy music. (spits) Yeah. Good thing there's plenty of moss about. Where are we? They call it Sanctuary, milady. It's the home of the fairies. (lilting, melodic chirping continues) Fairies. Clear! Coll? Clear! Set up camp. Gus, Quert, make the fire. Gort, your mug. (buzzing, fluttering) (playing sombre music) Play louder, you whey-face, I can still hear them harpy fairies. Duir, would you really have killed her? Yeah. Of course. That seat's not taken, if that's what you were about to ask. -I want to thank you. -(chuckles) It's only a log. There's no need to thank me. No, for before. -For defending me. -Ah. Your father was a good man. The kingdom prospered. Our people prospered. There were more of you. -Aye. -GORT: Yeah. The men you see before you, and many, many more, went deep into the caves. We were noble gold miners because we could see the light in the darkness. Gus? Gus? Y-You were just a boy, but you remember. When we returned to the surface... ...there was nothing. The land was blackened. Everything, everyone was gone. Was dead. That was the month your father died. I'm very sorry. As am I, Princess. As am I. Son, play a happy song. # Why spend your leisure bereft of pleasure # -(violin joins in) -# Amassing treasure # # Why scrape and save? # # Why look so canny at ev'ry penny? # # You'll take no money within the grave # -(singing continues) -I know I'm a bit gicky, but... would you care for a dance? I'd be honoured, Gus. # Our glasses clinking and round and round # # Is iomai sli sin, do bhios ag daoine # # Ag cruinniu piosai, is ag deanamh stoir # -# So, lads and lasses # -Oh. # Come fill your glasses for another round # (Snow White chuckles, singing continues) I don't trust her, and I don't believe her. No matter what Muir says. I feel peculiar. Queer almost. What? Since when? I'm tingling all over, but I feel lovely. I feel lovely. How's your gout? Gout? Well... It's a bit better. And my cough. You know, this is her doing. How much have you had to drink? No, it was the mushrooms. (grunts) -I got to send a log downstream. -(laughs) (laughs) # With hump for trammel, the scripture's camel... # Still fleecing us out of our bevvy, eh, huntsman? What do you say we let bygones be bygones? Not yet, nut-hook. (sighs) Hug. # Come fill your glasses for another round # # Is iomai sli sin, do bhios ag daoine # So what's in it for you, eh? What are you talking about? I'm talking about the girl. (Snow White chuckles) # Come fill your glasses for another round # Is it really just the gold? (sighs) I'm not sure, Beith. If I had any sense, I'd have abandoned her long ago. Muir says she's destined. Question is, huntsman: for what? Hmm? (inhales deeply) (exhales) (birds squawking) (squawking) (melodic chirp) (whistling chirp) (chirps) (light whirring) (wings fluttering rapidly) (bird tweeting) (startled grunt) (groans) (sniffing) Get up. (snorting) (distant animal cry) Father? What was that? Father? I know, son. I know. It's him. (distant animal cry) (gasps) (lilting chirps) (low bellow) No, no, no, no, huntsman. No one's ever seen this before. (quiet huffing) The white hart bows before the princess, Father. He's blessing her. -What are you talking about? -(Muir chuckles) You have eyes, huntsman, but you do not see. You, who have been with her the longest. She is life itself. She will heal the land. She is the one. MUIR: Can't you feel it? Are your ailments not gone? Gold or no gold, where she leads, I follow. -Aye. -I'm with you. Yes, Father. (shrieks) -GUS: Ambush! -BEITH: Aim low! Aim low! (sombre chirp) (shrieking) (whimpers) Coll, Duir, take him. Gus, go with her! (roars) -Stay with me. -Don't you wait for me. You first. I know. (yells) (yells) Go. That way. Go! Go! (horse neighs) (grunting and groaning) (screaming) (horse neighing) (grunting and groaning) (horse neighs) (yells) (groans) (fierce grunting) No, no, it's me! It's William! It's William. (grunting) -(cracking) -(groans) I admire your fight, huntsman. Your wife was the same. What do you know of my wife? I remember them all. But especially... -(groans) - ...the ones with fight. She screamed your name, but you weren't there. (groans) Now you can beg her forgiveness in the Otherworld. (pained grunting) (Ravenna groans) (groaning) Sister... ...heal me. (gasping) (strained grunting) (gasping) Forgive me, brother. I feel... (grunts) (wheezing) (wind whistling) (sobbing) Arrow! (Gus whimpering softly) Gus. Gus! (whimpering) Gus, breathe. Gus, breathe. (taking deep breaths) (pained whimpering) I won't leave you, miss. (wind whistling) GORT: We used to have pride. And now we just pilfer and drink and... and dream about when we didn't. Every man here would die for the chance of becoming that man again. So we follow you, Princess, in life and in death. And we shall have our pride again. On Gus' soul, this I swear. (sighs) # Dark the stars # # And dark the moon # # Hush the night # # And the morning loon # # Tell the horses # # And beat on your drum # # Drum # # Gone their master # # Gone their sun # # Dark the oceans # # Dark the sky # # Hush the whales # # And the ocean tide # # Tell the salt marsh # # And beat on your drum # # Gone their master # # Gone their sun # # Dark to light # # And light to dark # # Three black carriages # # Three white carts # (thunder rumbling) # What brings us together # # Is what pulls us apart # (thunder rumbling) # Gone our brother # # Gone our heart... # I'm sorry I left you. You didn't. If I'd have thought you were alive, I would have come for you. We were children, William. You're here now. # Hush the whales # # And the ocean tide # # Tell the salt marsh # # And beat on your drum # # Gone their master # # Gone their sun... # (chittering) (screeching and cawing) (fire crackling) (snow crunching gently underfoot) William. It's as if nothing's changed here. The world seems... beautiful again. It will be... when you are queen. The people of this kingdom hate Ravenna with every fibre. I used to hate her. But now I feel only sorrow. Once people find out you're alive, they'll rise up in your name. It takes more than a name. You are your father's daughter. The rightful heir. If I had a choice, I'd take you far away. Keep you safe by my side. But I have a duty. And so do you. How do I inspire? How will I lead men? The way you led me when we were children. I followed you everywhere. Ran when you called. (chuckles) I would have done anything for you. That's not how I remember it. No? No. And we used to fight all the time. And argue. You remember that trick? What trick? (apple crunching) (Snow White gasping) (whimpers) (grunts) (grunts) You see, child... -(gagging) - ...love always betrays us. (moans) (gasps) Wake up. (coughing, gagging) (gasping) (coughs) (grunting) (panting) (grunting) (gasping) By fairest blood, it was done. And only by fairest blood can it be undone. You... were the only one who could break the spell and destroy me. (grunts and pants) (low growling) And the only one pure enough... to save me. (groans) You don't even realise how lucky you are never to know what it is to grow old. No! (grunts) (birds cawing, screeching) (grunting) No. No. WILLIAM: No... (sobs) No. What are you looking at? Do something. You're dwarves, healers. Save her! Help her! MUIR: No. This cannot be. Shh, shh, shh, shh. Please. Please. (sighs) Please. What do we do, Beith? What we promised. (cawing) (Ravenna grunting) (gasping) (bell tolling) (bell continues tolling) (bell continues tolling) (tolling stops) Well, here you are. All dressed up, like you're about to wake up and give me more grief. Am I right? You deserved better. I once had a wife, Princess. Sara was her name. When I came back from the wars, I carried with me the stench of death and the anger of the lost. I wasn't worth saving, that's for sure. But she did so anyway. And I loved her so much. I loved her more than anyone or anything. And then I let her out of my sight, and she was gone. And I became myself again-- a self I never cared for. Until you. See, you remind me of her. Her heart. Her spirit. But now you, too, have gone. You both deserved better, and I'm so sorry I failed you. I'm so sorry. But you'll be a queen in Heaven now and sit among the angels. (breathing deeply) She died for us! For our cause! We cannot just hide behind these walls and watch this land die with her! Your grief clouds your judgment, my son. My grief makes me see clearer, Father. My duty is to protect those people who come to me for help. I will defend them to the last drop of my blood, but I will not abandon these walls. (crowd murmuring) The spell is lifted. Death has favoured you. Death favours no man. We must ride, like thundering waves, under the tattered battle flag of my father. You must rest. We have rested long enough. (whispers): Frost to fire and fire to frost. Iron will melt. But it will writhe inside of itself! All these years, all I've known is darkness. But I have never seen a brighter light than when my eyes just opened. And I know that light burns in all of you! Those embers... must turn to flame. Iron into sword. I will become your weapon! Forged by the fierce fire that I know is in your hearts! For I have seen what she sees. I know what she knows. I can kill her. And I'd rather die today than live another day of this death! And who will ride with me? Who will be my brother?! CROWD: Aye! Farewell, princess. (neighs) Where are they? Amassed on the cliffs. Their numbers have swollen. They say the king's standard flies again. Then let them come. Let them break their skulls on these stone walls and bring me my prize. My lord, we only have a few hours before the tide comes in. Not long enough to breach the castle walls. Is there no other way in? There is another way. Heigh-ho, lads, it's off to work. If he starts whistling, I'll smash his face in. (dwarves groaning) Yes. We're promised gold, and what do we get? Poo! How low has the dwarf race sunk, huh? (coughs) Oh, that looks like one of mine. Hold this. (grunts) (men chattering) All right. Gatehouse is 50 yards to the right. And there's a whole army out there. Six dwarves against an army? I like them odds. We must ride now. The portcullis will be open. So, you're back from the dead and instigating the masses. You look very fetching in mail. -COMMANDER: We ride! -Hyah! All right. We move as one. After you. (grunting) Hey, go. Go. Go. (horses snorting and neighing) (grunts) (grunting and groaning) Sorry. BEITH: What's happening, Coll? They're on the beach. Release! (whooshing) (neighing) (whooshing) (groaning) (neighing) (whistling, exploding) (yelling) Ready! Release! Release! (neighing) (screaming) Go, go, go! The summit's breached! (grunting and groaning) Back here, lads! Come on! Get back to it! (yells) (neighing) COLL: Now! -Pull! -Nion, get on that rope. -Come on! -Go on! BEITH: Quert! -It's a massacre down there. -Gort, on that rope. (grunting) We must turn back! No! I gave them my word! It's over. Get on now! -(rope creaking) -(grunting) BEITH: She's moving. You done it, lads! Charge! Hyah! (grunts) Form! Form! (yelling) (grunting and groaning) (swords clanging) (neighing) (soldiers yelling) (grunting) (groans) (grunting) (grunts) (grunting) (grunting and groaning) (yells) William! (grunting) (grunting) (grunts, pants) (clattering) (rumbling) (grunting) (groaning) (clinking) (roaring) Come and avenge your father, who was too weak to raise his sword. (yelling) (groans) (grunting) (Snow White coughing) -(grunts) -Go on. Watch them die. (groaning) (yells) How does it feel knowing you were the one who led them to their deaths? You see? We're not that different, are we? (spits) I'm everything you're not. (grunting) (groaning) (screeches) (grunting) You cannot defeat me! I've lived too many lives. Ravaged entire kingdoms. I have been given powers that you could not even fathom. I will never stop. Never. I will give this wretched world the queen it deserves. -(groans) -By fairest blood, it is done! -(grunts) -(panting) And only by fairest blood is it undone. (weak gasping) (groans softly) (groans) (wheezing) (wheezing) You can't have my heart. (wheezes) (sighs) (bells pealing) (birds chirping) MAN: In the name of all that is good and just in this land, I crown you queen. Hail to the queen. ALL: Hail to the queen! Hail to the queen! Hail to the queen! Hail to the queen!
