Previously on Married At First Sight ` four strangers met for the very first time... This is it, Rebecca. Hey. ...at their weddings. But despite bumpy starts... That was one of my deal-breakers. Lacey, nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. That was a bit different, eh? ...and family dramas,... What's her rating out of 10? Uh, 7.2. What does that mean? LACEY'S DAD: What did you say? 7.2? Luke: Do you have a gun? CLAIRE'S DAUGHTER: OK, I'm over it. I'm done. I'm over it. (BOTH LAUGH) I'm over it. By the end of the night, the feelings had grown... I'm so pleased to have met you, Claire. ...for both Luke and Lacey... Come on in, hubby! Whatever happens tonight, will remain between him and I. ...and Claire and Dom. The chemistry between us is there. But who knows? Tonight, it's the morning after for our newlyweds. Oh, good morning. (LAUGHS) We're both trying to hide. Yeah, it's` Oh no! (LAUGHS) Our experts match the next two couples. This could potentially be one of the strongest success stories. But how will the news go down... I hope she's good at polishing diamonds, because it's very very rough. ...with their nearest and dearest? In five days' time, Granny, I'm getting married to a stranger. And how will our brides and grooms feel... I'm getting pretty freaked out, eh? No going back. This is it. ...When they meet at the altar? (HEARTBEAT THUMPS) ...with Jay-Jay, Dom & Randell for breakfast on The Edge. Bringing you Married At First Sight NZ. (JAUNTY MUSIC) It's the morning after our first two weddings, and Dom is waking up next to his new wife, Claire. (CHUCKLES) We're both trying to hide. Yeah, it's` Oh no. Fine. What are you doing? Oh dear. We just stayed up too late. And talked. Just talked. It was lovely. Yeah. Makes a nice coffee. (CHUCKLES) That's a good thing. We're married. So it seemed quite normal, really. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah we've got the proof in. We've got the metal to prove it. It felt normal going to bed with my wife. And, um, had a lovely cuddle and eventually went to sleep. And, yeah, it was very nice. Oh, that was awesome night actually. That was so nice. Eh? I don't think there was an attraction for me at the wedding, but definitely after when we were talking. That's when I started to getting to know him. It's really nice. Yeah. OK. See ya. See ya guys. Gotta let us off now. (LIVELY MUSIC) Lacey is also waking up with her husband, Luke. Good morning. Hello. Good morning. (CHUCKLES) How are you? Good. Alone time with Luke was really good. We got to chat and get to know each other a little better, and it was good to be quiet and have some us time. Did you have a good sleep? No. No, I didn't. Why not? Not at all. Cos I couldn't sleep. Too excited? Probably. I think so. Yeah, I think we are really comfortable with each other so far. I'm pretty excited to get to know her a lot more, and, yeah, I'm looking forward to the whole journey. Our experts will now match our next two couples, who are willing to meet for the first time at the altar. So, Andrew. Andrew. (LAUGHS) He brings energy. There's no denying that. Lots of energy. And he brings a positive energy. He brings an absolute rawness. Yeah. I'm Andrew. I'm 26 years old. I'm a builder. I'm nearly through my apprenticeship. I love my work, I love the chase, I love the challenge ` getting things done. Loving life. My girlfriend ` two of them had become strippers over the years, while I was with them, and I was lied to, and she knew. So, yeah, it does hurt. (POIGNANT MUSIC) When you're trying to deal with a situation like that, you do close off. You become a bit cold. You have to be strong-minded and just continue, keep pushing on forward and do what you gotta do. He does what he says, and he says what he does, and it's simply` it happens at exactly the same time. There's no middle ground. As much as he might come across as quite carefree and laissez-faire about the whole relationship process, I think he's really looking for true commitment or someone who's not going to hurt him. Who would be good is Vicky. Ooh. You know, she is loyal and, you know, she's a sweet, sensitive girlie-girl who's just been picking the wrong men. (GENTLE MUSIC) Vicky: My name's Vicky Gleeson-Stokes. I'm 26 years old, and I'm a flight attendant. I'm such a girlie girl. I love getting dressed up. I love Disney, so that's what I'm hoping for as my fairy tale ending ` kind of like my happily ever after. Vicky: My past relationships, I felt neglected, I felt not good enough. I felt like, if, um... VOICE BREAKS: Sorry. I felt like if I was maybe more exciting, he'd wanna spend more time with me. As much as I say like I can be quite a princess, like, I'm always gonna make sure that he's treated like a prince as well. We need to make sure that Vicky doesn't shut down or she stands her ground, where she's able to be assertive if Andrew's getting a bit flighty or a bit careless in the relationship. I believe this is the most high-risk ` in terms of high risk, yeah, high-risk, high-gain. These could potentially be one of the strongest success stories. It could be one of our best success stories. So, Angel. The energy that she brings is contagious, which is fantastic. (BOTH LAUGH) My name is Angel. I'm 26 years old, and I work at an entertainment website called StarNow. My parents split when I was 13, and unlike most, my dad raised me from then on. I can't describe how much I love my dad. He is, like... Oh my god, I actually can't describe it. In the past, my drive to do things independently, such as, like, travelling definitely got in the way of me forming long-term relationships, and that's why I never did it. But not anymore. I definitely feel like I've got a lot to give to someone. I want a best friend. I want someone that I can rely on. I want someone who's always down for a good time. If he's super serious, I don't have a problem with that, but as long as they're open to loosening their belt buckles, so` Oh, I don't mean that! (LAUGHS) I don't mean that. I'm just willing to give everything a chance... for love. She comes from hippy parents, she's a bit carefree, she loves life, she's travelled a lot, but she's often found it difficult to find her focus or find her direction. She's 26, but she really presents with a maturity and a readiness that far exceeds that. So, she's sort of after that rounded, lovely kind of typical Kiwi bloke ` someone that is gonna give her a bit of what she needs and someone who's gonna give her a sense of security, a sense of groundedness. What about Brett? (GENTLE MUSIC) My name is Brett Renall. 34 years old. I'm from Lincoln, Christchurch. This is my workshop, and what I do for a job is I make wooden signs like the one behind me, yeah. I'm not really an early bird, so um the joy of being my own boss is I do my own hours. I hit up some emails on the computer, get the office work done in a nice, warm office. Then I go to the gym, and that's a big part of my routine. In the past, I have been a bit worried about meeting the right person. I've probably, if anything, maybe overthought it. Yeah probably thought I'd be married with kids by now. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. I really hope that she's` Yeah, doesn't think that I'm below-average. Average will be fine, cos I think I can work from average. Anything above that is just a massive bonus. I think I can offer some real positivity. I guess some jokes, some laughter. Yeah, like a best friend, I guess. Just feel like I'm in a real good place mentally as well to meet someone. Feeling the best I ever have, and I just think the timing's right now. Hopefully. (LAUGHS) Yeah. He's a little bit of a diamond in the rough. You know, he's got those really beautiful lovely traits ` you know, he's sensitive, he's caring, but it comes in a slightly, kind of, brash exterior. Mind you, there is a geographic difference. He lives in Christchurch, and she lives in Wellington. Yes, but during the interview, which was really really interesting, he was the one that offered that actually, he'd be prepared to move for the right person. He's got his life where he wants to be. He's got his business. He's done his travelling, and he's ready to find the woman of his dreams and settle down and have a family. I'm excited about these two. It sounds good. I think they have some really good complementary traits and that they will really learn and grow by being in a relationship together. Before our next two couples meet their match at the altar,... (CHAMPAGNE CORK POPS, WOMAN CHEERS) ...they must break the news to their loved ones. I am about to tell my dad and my grandma that I'm going to get married in five days. (LAUGHS) I'm pretty nervous. Just mainly about how my dad will feel. Kind of wears his heart on his sleeve, so he's either gonna be... He'll probably hide it with laughter, but then secretly maybe have a tear. I've got a really important question that I wanna ask you. Oh. (LAUGHS) (LAUGHTER) Should I start crying now or after you've asked me? Um, so, Dad, I was wondering if you would walk me down the aisle. What aisle? (BOTH LAUGH) It's not the supermarket. My God. (CHUCKLES) In five days' time, Granny, I'm getting married to a stranger. (LAUGHTER) Uh, have you met him? (LAUGHS) Or is he that strange? No, I've never met him before. Absolutely true to nature is for her to do something like this. (LAUGHS) Oh, that's fabulous, darling! (LAUGHS) I dunno, he says he expected it, but it's only cos I'm outrageous. Like, I don't actually really think that he thought he'd be going to a wedding so soon. You never know what will happen in this house! Well I think she's mad, but that's all right. (LAUGHS) We'll wait and see what the cards have thrown up. Could be perfect. With the wedding day fast approaching, the brides now have the difficult task of choosing the right dress for their big day. STEWART: A little bit older-school. But that's really nice. Oh my God, I don't even know. This is quite overwhelming. I'm in female heaven right now. (CHUCKLES) I love it. That's amazing. Look at the bottom of it. Oh my God. WOMAN: Oh my God. (JAUNTY MUSIC) Good? Yeah, awesome. I took my gumboots off to get a cup of coffee this morning. so I've gone from gumboots to dress shoes and tailored suits. Oh, I'm not worried about what she says, I just hope she doesn't run, (CHUCKLES) run to the hills, like. (GRAND MUSIC) I didn't feel real until I put on the dress. See the back? Oh wow. It's happening. (CHUCKLES) I guess. It's an usual way she's getting married, but, there's many roads to love. Oh my gosh. Oh wow. Sorry, babe. You just look so beautiful. I'm ruining my eyelashes. (EVERYONE LAUGHS) As a mother, it just took my breath away. Really did. You look so cute! (BOTH LAUGH) Just` Yeah, I hope he thinks I'm beautiful. ANDREW: Whew! (BOTH CHUCKLE) And arms down. Relax. Having my own` own suit and stuff, my wedding's kind of` it's all hitting home pretty much right now. Good. Goodie. Whoo! If I can even get a smile out of her, I'll be happy. It would be a shame for her to be like, 'I've got this great guy, but he's not so great, you know?' That would` That would suck. So hopefully` I am hopeful it works. It would be real cool. Coming up ` By tonight, I am gonna be hitched. That is just so overwhelming. It's all about to get very very real... It is her big day. And she doesn't know me. No go back. This is it. It's happening. ...as their wedding day is here. Oh my God. (CHEERING) (DRAMATIC MUSIC) It's the wedding day, and our singles are just hours away from walking down the aisle with a complete stranger. What kind of guy do you reckon you're gonna get? Well, I'm hoping that he's tall. I'm hoping that he's handsome. So you can wear heels? Yeah, exactly. Funny, thoughtful, honest, loyal. I am looking forward to meeting my Prince Charming so much. I just can't wait to actually get to know him and just... even just see what he looks like. Even though I'm nervous, I still think it's the right thing to do. I trust the experiment, I trust the process, and I trust the experts. So if they think he's for me, then I guess he is. (CHUCKLES) He'll be getting all handsome'd up to meet me. (GRUNTS) Oh my gosh. See? That's why Mr Pigglesworth is not allowed in here. Anything on the floor is now muddy. So, what's best-case scenario for him, as far as the girl goes? She doesn't run away at the aisle. Yeah, she gets turned off. Says yes. (ALL CHUCKLE) Nah, it's gonna be interesting, mate. She's gonna be a special type of woman to take all this in. But, if they've matched us right, we're gonna be sorted. So it's all good. Over. Uh... And then what? Over... I'm just making shit up. Diamond in the rough. I hope she's just good at polishing diamonds, because he's very very rough. Whoo! Yeah, I can see it's kicking in already. He's been playing it off all week, saying, 'Yeah, yeah, just excited, excited,' and now I can tell he's starting to sweat. Ah, my gosh, there's so much going through my head. I'm trying not to overthink it. Cos, I guess, you go into a situation overthinking things, things don't go that way, and then to the wayside ` boom. So, um, I just... trying to stay positive and,... yeah, just upbeat about the whole thing. I'm absolutely sacking it. The wedding day will make the whole thing real and that will be the scariest part about it, is when it all eventuates, and it will hit the participants like a tonne of bricks that it's actually happening. (INTRIGUING MUSIC) What is it? Oooh! Oh. My. God. Oh my God! It's from him! Oh my God. It says, 'Can't wait to meet you, my wife. See you soon. XX-OOO-XX.' Oh my gosh. It's just so nice that he's already thought of me. It just kind of shows the kind of person he is. Is that his handwriting? Yeah. It's a bracelet. You have to wear it. Yeah, for sure. Oh my God. That's so cute. Oh my God! That's buzzing me out. That's freaking me out a bit. It made him really real. And it made the whole situation real. I know he's there. I know he's getting ready right now. I'm feeling, yeah, pretty nervous. It comes in waves, the reality of it. A good thing to think about it is how my wife's feeling, cos I presume she must be feeling the same as I am, and I got` it's a huge thing I need to keep telling myself. Cheers. To the man. Cheers, guys. Thanks. Thanks for being here. Thanks for everything, guys. Very brave. Cheers, Kent. Thanks, man. All the best. And now... Wow, darling. Beautiful. Aww. Ohhh. My final minutes of being a single lady are literally ticking down. (LAUGHS) And by tonight, I am gonna be hitched. Like, that is just so overwhelming. I can't even process that as a feeling. Like, it's just way too crazy to think that that's gonna happen. How bad is my makeup running? No, it's not running at all. So, typically family support in these sorts of context is really important. You know, we want our family to kind of be happy with the decisions we're making when it comes to these sorts of big life decisions. And on a wedding day, that's really heightened. You're stressed, you're feeling anxious and you want that support. My dad is the just, like, the most amazing, supportive man, like, in the world. He's the only one that can really, like, calm me down and make me feel at ease, and he'll just be saying stupid jokes, and that's what I need. Like, that's what's gonna keep me calm. (LAUGHS) There will be no other men! (GIGGLES) BRETT: Finding love is important to me cos, yeah, I've just got this awesome lifestyle ` I wanna share that with someone. I want her to be really impressed with me. Like, I wanna make a first impression. I really hope that she's gonna not just judge a book by it's cover. I think my biggest fear going into this is... him rejecting me. I don't think it's fully sunk in yet about everything that's going to change in my life. But one thing's for sure - I know that I'm 100% going to go into this with, like, a really open mind. Leading up to the wedding, I think this is probably going to be one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the experiments for all the individuals. All those anxieties are going to be heightened, so there's going to be nerves, there's going to be feelings of being scared, there might be like cold feet, and, as humans, we don't like the unknown. It totally freaks us out. ANDREW: Massive amounts of nervous energy going through right now. Like, I'm just trying to stay positive and upbeat. Somewhere out there, there is a woman, and somewhere out there there is a very nervous woman, I imagine. It is her big day, and she doesn't know me so, Jesus, what's going through her head? (TENSE MUSIC) When I put my wedding dress on, it just kinda felt a lot more real. I felt my stomach kind of turn. Oh my God! Aww! How you feeling? All right? Really nervous than before. (LAUGHTER) Really, like, especially when the veil went on, it was just, like, 'oh my God.' This is it. No turn-backs. No going back. This is it. Like, it's happening. No regrets, no regrets. I always think everything happens for a reason. This is on` This is for the right reasons. This is gonna be perfect. It's just the getting there. It's just the getting there and not running away. Everything's just turning inside me right now. Like, I'm very nervous. Deep breaths. Yeah, I don't blame ya. BRETT: I just massively worry about mucking up even saying hello. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) (TENSE MUSIC BUILDS) I've` I've never really had, um, anxiety or like nerves to this extent before. (APPLAUSE, CHEERING) ANGEL: Oh my God. I am freaking out. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God. I've never really had anxiety or, like, nerves to this extent before. I really hope that she's gonna not just judge a book by it's cover. There'll be a lot of doubt, there'll be a lot of self doubt. There's be a lot of reflections of themselves, they'll be hypocritical of themselves. 'Are they gonna like me? Am I gonna like them?' Oh, here we go. Ooh, wow. I'm just feeling kind of overwhelmed. First impressions can be really important. There's this thing called the primacy effect, so the first thing we notice about someone, the first thing that we see, might be imprinted in our minds as a go to in terms of how we remember them. Just someone smiling and, like, just, yeah, just a smiling face coming down. You know, that's all I want. I hope when he sees me, he's got a grin like a Cheshire cat. Oh my God. Oh my God. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) Hi. Hi. How are ya? Nice to meet you. I'm Brett. I'm Angel. Hey, I'm Brett. Nice to meet you. Stuart. Stuart. I'm Brett. She did look like my dream woman eh? It was weird. Like, she's just got the most amazing smile. I'm kind of speechless to be honest. How are you? 34. Oh, I said how are you? Oh, I thought you asked how old I was. (LAUGHTER) Good start. The first time in my life I'm honestly speechless. Tall dark and handsome. I was, like, spot on the money. And he gave me like a really big smile, and it was just, like, really calming. Brett, do you take Angel Star Harrenfall-James to be your wife? I do. (LAUGHTER) Angel, do you take Brett Steven Renall to be your husband? I do. Brett and Angel, it is now time for you to make your vows to each other. As we start our life together, a life of epic times, I promise to always be there for you. I promise to make you laugh and smile. I look forward to spending the rest of my life with you, loving you, caring for you, respecting you, inspiring you and being the bestest friend to you. I promise you this from my huge heart, and I look forward to our amazing futures together. Oh, so nice. (LAUGHTER) Yeah, definitely felt a few tears coming out but held them back and put on my man face. He spoke so from his heart. It was just so beautiful. I promise that every day will contain laughter, fun and adventure as we tackle life as a team. I will believe in every dream you have, and support you no matter what, or how big or wild it is. I will never see a limit in what we can achieve together. I will embrace any challenge and risk and turn every negative, into a positive. Most importantly, I promise to ensure that everyday you will feel like you've hit the wife jackpot. (LAUGHTER) Sweet. Awesome. Sounds good. Both vows kind of resonated the same kind of ideas together. It was just really lovely. Brett, please place Angel's ring on her finger, and as you hold her hand, please repeat after me. I give you this ring... I give you this ring... ...as a symbol of my commitment... ...as a symbol of my commitment. ...to love, honour and respect you. ...to love, honour and respect you. Please place Brett's ring on his finger, and as you hold his hand, please repeat after me. I give you this ring... I give you this ring... ...as a symbol of my commitment... ...as a symbol of my commitment... ...to love, honour and respect you. ...to love, honour and respect you. It gives me great pleasure to declare Angel and Brett to be husband and wife. Congratulations. Aw, that was nice. The fact that he did a kiss on the cheek, and it was really polite, I thought that was really beautiful and obviously he wants it for a special moment and it just kinda shows the person he is. (APPLAUSE) Man, she's way better than I, like, ever imagined. I just want to get to know her, eh? And I kind of got that vibe as well. I feel like I've won the lotto, eh? It feels so surreal. I'm pretty freaked out, eh? Just feeling like I don't know what to expect. During this whole process, the participants are gonna be on high alert. They're gonna be kind of in that fight or flight moment. Well, sweaty. Nervous. Because it's a very unknown, unfamiliar and new situation that they're facing. Oh, gosh. This is the final moment, bro. And it's just really important to stay calm, breathe and ride those kinds of feelings out. So much going through my head. Just... what I'm gonna say and if it's gonna come out. I am 100% hoping that he's my dream man. I'm 100% hoping that he's my Prince Charming. 100% everything. Like, I'm sick of looking, like this is the guy I wanna be with. Andrew. (GUESTS EXCLAIM) I would expect the bride's family to be hugely protective of their daughter. It's hugely important for the groom, to really put his best foot forward and to really set a great impression for the bride's family. Even before we walked out I had to stop and take some breaths because my just my heart was just going like crazy. (TENSE MUSIC) (LOVELY MUSIC) Hi. (LAUGHTER) Hi. Oh, you look beautiful. Thank you. Hi. I'm Andrew. (CHUCKLES) I'm Vicky. Nice to meet you Vicky. You look beautiful. Thank you. I'm so nervous. I know. I know. Me too. When I saw her? She's great. I was so happy. Pretty much hit the nail on the head with what I'd be after. She's smiling when she walked up, she looked beautiful. Beautiful eyes ` blue eyes. I like blue eyes. She was the part. So, Andrew, of your own free choice, will you take Vicky to be your wife? I do. And Vicky, of your own free choice, will you take Andrew to be your husband? I do. (MOUTHS) (LAUGHTER) He probably wasn't what I pictured in my head. But he seems lovely, and he's handsome. He's handsome. I, Andrew, take you Vicky, to be my wife. I vow to be the guy you never had but wanted, and the guy that's gonna motivate you to chase your dreams, and in general, just do my best by you. I do hope that I fall in love with this man. He seems like` He seems like a guy that I need. (CHUCKLES) I've walked this Earth on these two feet, uncertain, unknowing of who I'd meet. With my mind open, the future is bright. Fear and doubt now left behind, connecting souls to be defined. I give you my time, I'll give you my all. I'm ready for the love, in which we may fall. For in this moment, my heart is racing. (LAUGHS) Since standing here, it's you that I'm facing. We're both so brave to be on this track to our new life together. Let's never look back. Aw, that was great. That was so good. You look beautiful. Thank you. Vicky, as a sign of my love, that I choose to share my whole life with you, I give you this ring, to represent my promise to you. (BOTH LAUGH) Andrew, as a sign of my love, and that I choose to share my whole life with you, I give you this ring, to represent my promise to you. I declare you, husband and wife! (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) Kissing anybody in front of heaps of people is always a bit nerve-racking, but it was fine. I was actually expecting it to be much worse, but it was fine. I think the chemistry could develop. Like, it's not not there, but I think it's, like, a work in progress, to be honest. Yeah. (BOTH LAUGH) Um, A little bit` A little bit romantic. Um, you can` Um... You know we've never met before, eh? Yeah, I know, I know. Yeah, it was weird, eh? Like, I hadn't met this girl at all, and I've gotta take these real intimate photos, like, wedding photos. I was just like, man this is, like, this crazy. It's full on. Closer, closer, closer, closer. Open your mouth a little bit. Little bit. Little bit. And stop it. Stop right there. OK, that's enough. She's awesome, yeah. She's got a smile that will just light up the whole world. I'm gonna pick her up. Yeah. I can pick you up. Oh my God. Are you sure? Well, it's` I-I-I don't want to upset you up. You go. If you can lift me. Ah! (CHUCKLES) Piece of cake. It's a pretty, like, really weird situation, I guess. Like, I just found clarity and like how he was looking at me that everything was OK. Lean` lean back more. Back more. OK. OK, Brett. Kiss her. So far, you know, we're only on one layer of the onion so plenty more to go, plenty more to go. When I first saw him, like, obviously he's not my usual type, and I can admit to that. He's not what I would usually go for. Aw. (CHUCKLES) Aw. How cute are we? Oh, I love the kiss on the forehead. Like, I always go for the bad boy, and honestly, like, he's just so charismatic. He's just so, like` we just bounce off each other with the conversation, and I think that's way more important. So, these experts have done a pretty good part. Looking for this girl for me cos I can tell you right now, I will not be an easy customer to shop for, but they have done it, and they have matched us. And we are hitting it off like a house on fire, so that's cool. Try to kiss but don't` don't kiss yet, all right? No kissing yet. No kissing. That's good. Ah, that's a steal! That's good. I thought that was quite funny. And I was like, 'You're ballsy man. Like, good on you.' He's not too teethy, he's not too tongue-y. I mean we haven't had a pash yet, but... good for a first kiss. Good for a photo shoot kiss. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) How you going, Angel? Nice to meet you. You can hug me. Oh, get in there. Now I have to meet the family, and I have to put a good impression on for them and, like, make sure they know how committed you are to him and the whole experience. I think that's important that they realise, like, why you're here and how much this means to you. Nice to meet you. Angel. In case you didn't remember! (BOTH LAUGH) Special name for a special girl. Aw. I think everyone needs someone like her. She's awesome. Like, yeah, she's great. And, yeah, no, I can't wait to, um, yeah, just absorb her energy, eh? It's awesome. These are two very unique, very different families, from different walks of life, coming together. They're being united, so it's hugely important that the individuals perform. She'll fit in very well. (LAUGHS) How are you feeling? I honestly feel fi` like, so relaxed. Yeah, you look super chill. He's such a gentleman. He's so respectful. So amazing. Like, I just feel like his heart is, like, definitely in it. Yeah. Cheers, bro. Yeah, you having a good time? Yeah, you see you up there. Like, I can see that she looks awesome. Yeah, I'm really happy, eh? Yeah. Yeah, it was hard not to` hard not to tear up there in the corner, eh? Yeah, yeah. I, like, can't wait to get to know him. Like, I don't think I could have a bad time with him so far. That's so great! But I hope the feeling resonates. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) Thank you. I like the fact that he got the chair for her. That was nice. So, tell me the name's of your groomsmen. So, this is my best man, Cam. Cam. The world's his oyster right now, so I really hope he pulls through with this. He's punching above his weight, so let's just see him pull through. Everyone loves an underdog. Everyone loves an underdog, so we're rooting for him. Hi, my baby. Hi, my mummy. You've gotta take care of my baby. I will. I promise. But I know you will. Mm. Absolutely. Are you all right? Very emotional when I hear my mum speak about, like, me and things like that, um, just because her opinion to me is very important cos she's, like, one of the main people in my life and just her opinion matters. Take care of her. I will. I will. I won't see her get hurt or any` It's your job now. I know. (LAUGHS) And the best advice I can give to you is talk to each other honestly. Oh, I wouldn't say won over the family yet. No indication of that but they have been giving me some good feedback. I am absolutely stoked, eh. I was so uncertain about how it was gonna go, but now I'm certain that things are gonna be infinitely easy from here on in, and start building lives together and making memories and stuff like that, so that's cool. I'm real rapt. Aw. You are` You're an affectionate person, aren't you? I try to be. I try to be. But, like, not to the point of over affectionate. Are you sure? I'm not over smothering. He's very affectionate. Like, he's constantly asking if I'm OK, always got his arm on my back, like, around my shoulder, you know, hand on my knee, when speeches were on he was holding my hand. Like, it was really sweet. Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting to know him and just to see where it progresses. Like, I don't want to say anything too soon, you never know. Like, it's the first time meeting, and everyone's on their best behaviour at the first meeting. All right, cool. All right, go get warm. You might've seen some wooden signs. I handmade those last week for today. Hannah and Darryn, good friends of mine, they got married and they had the names of places they'd been on dates, and I thought that was really special, and I thought, 'Well, I can't put places that we've been on dates.' So, I just put four very special places that I want to take you on dates. ALL: Aw. When Brett said that the names on the table correlated to the places he wanted to take me on dates, I actually think that is, like, every single woman's dream. Hold me. All through it? That's a big bit of cake. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) WOMAN: Give her a kiss! Give her a kiss! I'm so sore from laughing so much. I know, and smiling. Yeah, my face is so sore. Mum? Vicky. Hello. He's a family guy, same as me and that's, like, a massive relief. Because, like, number one for me is family, obviously, so it's really good to hear that he's got the same kind of morals and things as I do. I love that little dude to bits. He's not perfect, but, you know, he's my son. You know what? He's so kind. And he's` I can see right through in his heart. You're a lovely lady. The participants are gonna be on high alert for wanting to see what their friends and family think of the person they've just got married to. Because they won't have much information about the person that they're marrying, they want to try and get information from other people in terms of what they think. Hey, bub? Huh? Just made a wee point about, um, you know, being intimate with the boy. Just about it being in public. I know. So, you just, like, if you say to him, 'I just want it to be private between us.' As best you can. Just keep it private. Just say to him` just say 'I love that you're affectionate, but we just need to get to know each other.' Yeah. Yeah? I don't wanna to hurt his` I don't wanna` Like, if it's just too much too soon, just say, 'Just give me a bit of time.' You're allowed to say that. Yeah. All my children take my advice. They're` We're very close, all of us girls, and they value my opinion, and I value theirs. Like, I do like affection. But genuine. Yeah. But I don't think it's fake on his part. Like, I don't` No, I think he's besotted. Yeah. And he called you beautiful about four times, and he held your chair for you. Yeah, he's a gentleman. He's lovely. Yeah, he's lovely. You can just get to know him. There's no rush. What's the rush? No, I know, that's what I mean. If we were to hear one of the families being overly critical or just put that seed of doubt in the mind of the other person, then it would cause some challenges and it's how the individual manages those. So, if I can get everybody to stand up, please, and we're gonna get into the first dance. I'm not ready. (CHUCKLES) Hold on. It's all right. You nervous? Yeah. My family's the most important thing for me, and if they didn't like him, it would be very unlikely that we'd stay together. I value my family and friends and their opinions if they see something that I don't see. Communication is important, and if I went and didn't say something about something that was bothering me then that would just completely contradict myself. I'd rather be open and honest, and I feel like things are gonna work out better that way. Do you think we could have a quick word somewhere private? Yeah. I'm sorry. Do you think we could have a quick word somewhere private? Yeah. Just in a corner or something. What you need to do is to communicate, and that communication isn't necessarily what you say, but it's having the capacity and the openness and the willingness and the bravery to listen. It's just, um, I don't want you to get disheartened or anything, but I just think that, um, I love that you're really affectionate. Um, I just think because we have just met just today, all the... I feel really bad saying this, but a lot of the kissing and the touching and stuff` Want to get used to it. Yeah, but it's just, like, my mum had a quick word to me about that. What did she say? Oh, it wasn't anything bad. It was just kind of the same thing. It was just really noticeable. And it's not` Oh my gosh, this is coming off so bad. Um... I was confused that she kind of came and took me aside, but I can respect it, but I think it's come from her family's perspective is that she doesn't want me to come across as overbearing and stuff like that. But it was quite, um, kind of mixed emotions. It's all good. I'm sorry. Please don't be... Nah, it's all good. I'm just kind of coming... I'm just gonna... process it. It's cool. I'm sorry. Nah, nah, it's all good. Like, it's not anything bad. Nah, it's because you need to be honest with me. Like` Well, that's what I mean. Yeah, yeah, good. And it's not` I'm not` I'm not saying none at all, but I'm just saying maybe not so much. You know, you're just trying to be a nice guy and make her comfortable, and you kind of get told that it's not making her comfortable. It's a bit like, 'oh wow.' You know, it was pretty` It took me back a little bit, but I didn't let it get in the way of things. That's cool. Well, I've just been trying to be, like, real supportive of you and` No, and you have. You've been amazing` And I don't` I might of come on too strong. But that's, like, not what I'm trying do. I was just trying be, like, 'Are you all right?' No, I know that. And I know` I know that it comes from a really good place and everything. And I don't want you to be disheartened or anything like that, cos I do` I do like you. I do, and don't think I don't. You know what I mean? Nah, at least you've talked to me about it. I appreciate that, eh? Yeah, okay. Give me a hug, then. Give me a hug. See, I love you. I do love you. It's a lot to happen in one day for any person, um, so I don't think that she's wrong in saying that; I don't think she's right in saying that. I think that's just how she feels, and, um, as long as she's comfortable, then I'll be comfortable, and I guess we just build from there. Oh, I can't dance. Where are we doing it? (SOFT MUSIC) (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) This is the best first date I've ever been on. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, for sure. Um, yeah, it's going really good, eh? It's going awesome. Yeah. Yeah. (CHEERING) It doesn't really feel like we're s-strangers? Even though I don't really know that much about you. Yeah. Yeah it does feel like we've known each other for a while. We've definitely got heaps of similarities. Um, yeah, it's been a fun day, and, yeah, just stoked that we've done it, and we're here and it's awesome. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) (FAST-PACED CLASSICAL MUSIC) VICKY: I just feel like there's a whole lot of love around me and around him, and it's very much like the fairy tale that I wanted, and hopefully I will get my happily ever after, but we will see. We will see. Most of our singles want to collapse after it's over, but hopefully they don't. It will just be a very high intensity scenario, and what will happen is they'll just probably find themselves needing quite a lot of rest and downtime that evening. Right now I'm feeling completely exhausted but elated. Like, can't really describe the whirlwind of a day I've had. It's been so completely overwhelming and amazing, and it's just so nice to finally be at the end of it so we can enjoy each other's company and see where the road takes us So... Yeah so, um, obviously we've only got one bed here. I just wanted to bring this up ` I'm happy to sleep on the couch. No dramas to me at all, like. Yeah, I wanted to make her know that you know I'm not in it for those reasons. I dunno. I feel like we've committed ourselves this whole` Yep. ...experiment together, and just cos you're sharing a bed doesn't mean` You don't snore, do you? No, I don't! (LAUGHS) Do you? Nah, nah. I'm not a snorer. Oh, thank God for that! (LAUGHS) The hardest part was meeting him and seeing the family. And sharing a bed with someone after you just got married to them ` that just seems like a walk in the park after the day we've had. So, overall today, what do you reckon out of 10? 12. Yeah it's been a pretty crazy day. What you reckon? Yeah, I'd go... 12. 12 out of 10. Yeah, nah, it's been good, eh? But, yeah, it's been surreal, and it's just been a huge day. Yeah. The best day marrying a stranger. I'm pretty pumped up about Angel, and I wanna` there's a lot of things I'd like to talk to her about, so I think we might talk for a few hours yet. At the moment we're really on the same train, so it's really nice, because I wanted someone to get on my train and straighten it out, and so far the first carriage is on, you know. What a gentleman. I reckon! (CHUCKLES) I'm gonna go sit down. (JAUNTY MUSIC) (POP!) (FIZZ!) Oh my gosh. (LAUGHS) Oh my God! (LAUGHS) I'll get you a towel. (LAUGHS) Oh my gosh. Whoa. Oh my gosh. It definitely feels different to when I stepped in here this morning to get ready. Um, it's fine, though. Like, he's so easy to talk to so it doesn't feel awkward at all. Um, so, you enjoyed yourself today? Yeah, I did. I had a really good time. You? Yeah, yeah. I have. It's pretty` It's pretty quick process, eh? I think we're both pretty nervous about the whole 'spending the night together' type thing. How would you feel about, like, if we didn't sleep... in the same bed? Like what` what do you want to do? I'm a little bit hesitant to, like, maybe sleep in the same bed tonight, and like I'm not saying I won't, but, um, yeah, I think that` Yeah, I dunno, I just didn't want to send the wrong signals straight away. I'm easy. It's just a bed to me. Yeah? So if you don't feel comf` Cos, like, I mean, if we didn't` If we did sleep separately, you're not gonna think that I'm, like, not into you? Nah. Cos it's not that. It's just that I, you know, obviously we've just` I just wanna take it quite slowly. You know, women want to be loved and cared for, and then you give it to them, and they don't want it, and you give and take ` it's an end all, age old battle. Um, it doesn't... upset me. It just, mm, sort of made me second guess my approach, you know, maybe little bit. Oh, I won't put myself out there as much, see what happens. What were you hoping? I was just kinda hoping that we could kinda just lie there and kinda just fall asleep. But, like, not have sex or anything. I don't want that. That wasn't my goal. Are you sure? Whatever you're comfortable with. Yeah, I want you to be comfortable. I mean I'm easy-going, but I think she wants to have` she wants to have a night by herself and kinda just get her bearings, I suppose. And, yeah, I don't want to force anything on her, so I'm probably gonna sleep on the couch tonight. Oh... ...when Jay-Jay, Dom and Randell catch up with the stars of Married At First Sight NZ tomorrow morning 7.35 on The Edge. Sunday night ` four new singles fight... for their shot at love. And while some keep their cool,... Is she gonna run or not? Maybe. (CHUCKLES) What if he's bald? (LAUGHS) ...others fall apart. BEL: I feel like I'm gonna pass out. GIRL: Really? What do you need? Nah, I think I'm just too nervous. There's just been so much waiting and anticipation, and I just want to do it. Just need to meet him. Copyright Able 2017
