the perfect match... I have got a guy for her. This is it. ...for Yuki and Dan. A little calmer? (CHUCKLING) Hang on. (BLOW-DRYER WHIRRS) But while the perfect wedding... (PEOPLE CHEER, APPLAUD) ...ended in a perfect wedding night,.. We're married. Yep, we are. ...Tayler and Sam's special day... Let's just hope he's hot. (LAUGHTER) ...hit a major speed bump. I just don't know what I've got myself into. Tonight, the congregation waits for Tayler and Sam. It's nerves. You will be fine once you're walking down that aisle. And our final singles meet for the first time. It's literally a couple hours away. There's no turning back for our final couple. I am serious about finding that one person. But with the hard parts over, the fun really begins. This looks incredible. Oh my gosh! This is... I dropped my bag in excitement. (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) Copyright Able 2018 Step one ` Buy a SodaStream. Step two ` Save up to 2000 bottles a year by using one reusable bottle. Step three ` Planet saved. Step four ` watch Married At First Sight NZ, thanks to SodaStream. (GENTLE PIANO MUSIC) (BIRDSONG) (GENTLE PIANO MUSIC CONTINUES) (DRAMATIC MUSIC) Guests of Sam and Tayler have started arriving at the venue to witness their wedding. Back at Lichfields Cottage, Sam is ready to join Tayler at the altar, but is having serious second thoughts. You all right, man? You OK? You're all right? You're good, man. It's all right. At the back of my mind, there is that thought saying, 'What the hell are you doing, Sam?' I just don't know what I've got myself into. (CHUCKLES NERVOUSLY) I am feeling sick in the stomach. This has got to be one of the most silliest things I've ever done. It's nerves. Yep. You will be fine once you're walking down that aisle. You'll be good. Any couple on their wedding day is filled with nerves, anticipation, and absolute excitement and confusion. With our couples, they're gonna have that additional element of doubt. You guys have my back, so it's fine. Always. I mean, it's nervous enough getting married, right? But you're literally getting married to a complete stranger, so of course you're going to be feeling nervous and emotional. Reality has 100% set in. Hey, there will be ups and downs throughout the whole thing, but just trust that, you know, the experts have matched you guys for a reason, so. I hope so. And he'll be feeling the exact same. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's probably going, 'Oh my God. What is going to be walking down the aisle?' Yeah. Yeah. Whatever happens, you know, happens, and just go with it, you know? Just be yourself and be true to yourself, and... All right. First impressions ` do I look OK? (LAUGHS) You look amazing. OK. That's good. So crisp. Like, the colour's amazing. If you were walking down the aisle, I'd be like, 'Yeah!' I need a wine. That's what I need before. Can I have a skull? (LAUGHS) I think for me, it's more like, I really hope my husband is feeling the same way. I know he probably is, but I just... I don't know. I just hope we're both on this level at this point in this journey. The physical attraction... is definitely a wee bit of a worry. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) I'm worried that he's not gonna like me before actually getting to know me. I've been asked, 'Are looks a big deal for you?' And you'd be lying if you said, 'No, looks aren't.' Because that's literally how you judge someone. So, yeah, that first... judgement is gonna be interesting. (DRAMATIC ORCHESTRAL MUSIC) (GASPS) This is so nice! Does this feel real now? Oh my gosh. I'm nervous. I'm so nervous. Oh my God. Are you nervous? Yes. (EXHALES SLOWLY) (DRAMATIC MUSIC CONTINUES) (INDISTINCT CHATTER) My heart is pumping. It is legit` I don't think... I go to the gym and it doesn't even feel like this, like... (LAUGHS) God. I don't know what to expect. Ooh! (BLEEP), here we go. (BOTH CHUCKLE) (UNEASY MUSIC) I just want to be in love, and I'm 100% hoping this could be the one. I'm ready to get married. It is definitely gonna be the last first date that I'll ever go on, so let's make it a banger. (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) SAM: I am feeling sick in the stomach. This is it. This is the time; this is the moment. I'm not going to be single anymore. (TENSE MUSIC) (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) (TENSE MUSIC SWELLS) (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) OK, for the last couple, I'd really like us to take a look at Julia, to start off with. Julia and a potential match. She's quite unfiltered, isn't she? Big personality. Mm-hm. (GENTLE PIANO MUSIC) (INAUDIBLE) I'm Julia. I'm 32 years old. I work for 'Stuff' as a media consultant. Why don't you curl the hair first, and then wouldn't it be easier`? Sorry, I'm telling you what to do. No. And you're the hairdresser! It won't be easier to do. I'm looking for a certain guy, because I'm quite an extrovert, a bit of a free spirit, and a lot of men don't really know how to take that. And so I've had a lot of rejection, but, you know, I... It is what it is, and... Oh God. Don't put` Cut that out! (BLEEP)! Maybe we shouldn't talk about rejection, because that's going to make me look desperate. Oh, I just hope he's really lovely,... Yeah? ...has a great sense of humour, is intelligent and really, um,... strong ` strong-minded. Cool. Someone I can't walk all over. I do have quite a fear that I'll turn into a crazy cat lady, because I love cats. If my future husband doesn't like cats, that's, um, definitely` or he's allergic to them, that will be a real issue. (LAUGHS) But I'm hoping that won't be the case. No, I don't feel comfortable with it. What do you want? You tell me what you want. And I feel bad about it, but I'm like, it's gonna affect the way I feel, which isn't going to be ideal. You tell me what you want me to do, sweet. I seem to have everything else ` I just don't have the man. And I really... Yeah, that's the one thing I really want and miss in my life, I think. I know I'm being fussy and pedantic. I do fear that I may scare him away by being... Yeah, coming on too hot or too full-on with my personality. Ahhh! No, it's OK. I'm sorry. I'm freaking out. Just relax, sweet. Well, don't. (CHUCKLES) Don't freak out? Don't. Just relax. I know. Go with what we're doing, and just relax, hon. I know. But it's just not quite how I envisioned it. I know. I keep thinking, somewhere in New Zealand there's a guy out there that is thinking exactly like me. Just... Yeah, just going, 'Oh my God. What am I doing? What am I entering into? 'What is she like? Is she crazy?' A little bit. (LAUGHS) Yeah. (CHUCKLES) She states that she's an extrovert, but she also states that she needs an extrovert, because an extrovert is the only personality type that can cope with the energy that she brings. It was when she introduced her type... Sometimes we like to challenge the type, but in this case, that actually drew me towards who I believe would be a really good match. She states that she usually goes for the older, successful businessmen, and she was quite honest in reflection of reminiscent of her father. Well, there's only one person there, isn't there, for her? David! Yes. I'm David McLelland. I'm 44 years of age, and I'm an entrepreneur. It's got harder dating as I've got older and meeting women, especially when I travel a lot. It's hard to get that sort of commitment and get things rolling when you're up and down the country and things like that. I have been friend-zoned a few times, yeah. Rejection is like something` you have to go through it, and everyone does. I think it's the way you handle it and bounce back from it. And it would be nice to meet that special person, just curl up on the couch, you know. and have someone with you to do that, and just light the fire and cuddle up and watch a movie or something like that. And I think that's what I'm missing in my life, is that connection and, you know, someone that I genuinely just care about every single living moment, so to speak. I'm ready for my wife. (CHUCKLES) I mean... (CLEARS THROAT) No. My wife? A wife? (LAUGHS) Ready for a wife. The challenge that comes with potentially matching two strong extroverts ` what will happen in that sort of dynamic? And older people too. Yeah. So, Julia ` incredibly strong. If she becomes the more prominent figure, what will that do for David? Well, that's the thing. They're both used to running their own lives, haven't they? They're not going to tolerate something if it doesn't feel right. I think these two are going to go through a very early storming phase, where they're going to work out their boundaries in the relationship ` how their relationship's going to look. If they can get through that, I think they have potential. (INDISTINCT CHATTER, LAUGHTER) Has everyone got full glasses? ALL: Yeah. Yeah? Yeah, good, good. Sweet. So have I. What are we here for, David? I've got something to tell ya. I'm at a point now where I think, um, I'm really happy with who I am, where I am, and this is... kind of feels like the last piece of the puzzle for me. Yeah. So I'm getting married. What?! Eh? Beg your pardon? Yeah. And I don't know who she is. When is this happening? A week. Um... Hold on... Are you serious? What? Dude! It's happening. What do you mean you don't know who she is? I've never met her. I'll meet her on the day, and we're gonna get married and see how it goes. It's all on. (LAUGHTER) I actually didn't think Dave would ever get married, so... Um, it's a shock. Someone say something! Oh my god! (LAUGHTER) You might actually meet the person that you have been waiting to meet. He tends to fall very hard, very quickly. When he meets a girl, he dives feet first every time. So I suppose the situation is probably going to be ideal for him. Thank you. I can't wait to meet her. Yeah, I know. Neither. Neither can I! He's ready for love. He's ready to find the person that he could spend the rest of his life with. You just know deep down that's all he wants, and I hope he finds it, doing this. Cheers! Cheers! (GLASSES CLINK) DISTANTLY: Oh my God! (DISTANT CHEER) (BIRDS SING) I actually really like it. Yeah! It's actually really quite beautiful. I literally have to suck it all in. (EXHALES, CHUCKLES) It feels a bit strange picking out a wedding dress for someone I haven't met yet, but kind of exciting too. Bit of an adventure. It's very kind of like... not very forgiving around here. (LAUGHS) It really accentuates my curves, that's for sure. There's no hiding those. I think I really need in a man someone who can put me in my place when I need to be. I just need it not to be so tight around here. That's the only thing. I can be quite, um,... yeah. I've got a big personality, and I'm quite extroverted. Otherwise I'm just gonna be, like, sucking it in, sucking my stomach in the whole time, and being like... Like a penguin, and that'll be awkward. I have had men tell me that before ` that they find that intimidating. I'm really confident and quite full-on, and that can really scare some guys away. You know, do I do the grand reveal and be like... tada! Hello! I just need to be super cool, and that's gonna be really tough. (LAUGHS) (PLAYFUL MUSIC) (LIGHT, JAUNTY MUSIC) Check out those biceps! I'm more into a really nice guy, someone who's caring, but he definitely has to be strong-minded, someone I can't walk all over. How do I look, wifey? Definitely a sense of humour. (GROANS, LAUGHS) I'm attracted to that, for sure. I asked the best man about a gym routine. Clearly, it's paying off. Mm-hm. And also really adventurous, like me. I reckon we could do it without pants! WOMAN: Whoo! (LAUGHS) What do you reckon? Yeah? Can we do it without pants? You know, likes to be spontaneous as well. (LAUGHS) Oh boy, I'm really needing a... Need my grandfather here. That's shocking. I really believe that they're going to match me right, with someone that's gonna be able to handle me. (DRAMATIC MUSIC) I'm just wondering if someone can polish me boots, yeah? All ready to go? Hey, thanks. Give a wee scrub. I am nervous. Um, I've got` I've got butterflies. Yeah, it'll be so much fun. I just wonder what he's doing and how he's feeling. I don't think it's really sunk in that I'm about to get married, because I never pictured it being in such a surreal environment and the circumstances. My dad passed six years ago today, actually, ironically, which is very... Yeah. Could be a good sign, though. He's up there looking down, and he'd be proud, I'm sure. Or he'd be like, 'Wow, she's crazy.' Probably both. (CHUCKLES) Look what I just got from your husband! Oh! Oh my God! Oh my God. So have a look in here and see what it is. Oh my God. He's written me a note! Oh! Oh my God. Oh my God. I'm freaking out, man. Oh my God! Aw! Wha`? Um, I dunno if I can pronounce that very well. Lapita la, uh... It's a stone of peace, attracts good luck and drives away bad luck, relieves anxiety and stress. And then he wrote... Oh my God! I have the exact stone in my hand. See you soon. Oh my God! (ALL EXCLAIM) It's quite amazing. It's kind of surreal, cos, yeah, I'm a bit of a free spirit, so it was perfect. Oh! I can't wait to meet him! (CHUCKLES) What! Oh. Oh, wow. That's so sweet. Oh my God. Julia really deserves love, and I used to always say to her, 'Look, you've got to kiss lots of frogs before you meet a prince.' Shall we practise? (LAUGHS) I'm already married. Nah, not like that! (LAUGHS) I meant with the rings. This is me, and that's her. You know, in terms of who I want to be walking down that aisle, I hope to see a smile, and I hope she takes my breath away. Ugh. It doesn't look very good, eh? Look, like, around here? It looks quite... Oh, God. I do have a bit of fear of just walking down that aisle. For the first time, that really` just thinking about it is quite scary. It's too late now. (SIGHS) It looks beautiful. It doesn't look very... It doesn't look like... Oh, no, I'm just freaking out. (TENSE MUSIC) (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) (SEAGULL CRIES, BIRDS SING) JULIA: I'm just freaking out. I can even put a little bit of tape in there. OK. Yeah. It's so easy to fix. Oh, good. Oh, I hope so. Oh, in my mind, I'm going, 'Oh my God.' Everyone's going to be turning around and looking at me, and they're all going to be judging my face. And I wear my heart on my sleeve, so they` everyone's going to know straight away. Come out and show us the dress! Oh! (ALL EXCLAIM) Oh, Julia... It's stunning. Oh, it's so beautiful. Oh, it's amazing. Oh! That's so good! I do think we're` you know, when we swap glances, we're gonna know straight away if there's something there. Just that moment ` I think that moment is the only thing that I fear, really. I'm freaking out, man. Perfect scenario ` I walk down the aisle, and he is... tall and really... Um,.. I'm not sure. I just... (SIGHS) I just hope we have a good icebreaker. Oh, but what if he's like... (YELLS, BREATHES QUICKLY) (DRAMATIC MUSIC) T-minus one hour and 15 minutes. (SPEAKS INDISTINCTLY) Can you believe that? You'll be married. She's out there somewhere. I think in the past I've fallen, you know, for some women faster than what they have, and then the brakes come on when they realize that things are probably getting a bit more serious, because, you know, it's why I'm here. I am serious about, you know, finding that one person. I just hope you can` you know, you meet this girl and you just give each other a chance. So if they're a little unsure, we're gonna have problems. EXHALES: Oh my God. Deep breath. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. Deep breaths, my love. You'll be fine. (BREATHES SHALLOWLY) Just breathe, breathe. Hold on tight to the stone. What's going on, mate? Well, I've just realised I've got her that stone, and it's, like, a blue lace agate. It's supposed to help calm you down and with stress. And I haven't brought mine. Left it in the room. Shit. So, um,... can we find this stone? (LAUGHS) A blue stone? (EXHALES SLOWLY) (SUSPENSEFUL MUSIC) Just think of all the yummy food you're going to eat! (BOTH CHUCKLE) That's the last thing I'm thinking of. (LAUGHS) (LAUGHTER, INDISTINCT CHATTER) Hello. How are yas? Thank you. Here we go. (TENSE MUSIC) Yeah. Christchurch. (TENSE MUSIC CONTINUES) (CROWD CHEERS, APPLAUDS) (CHEERING CONTINUES) (WOLF WHISTLE) (SIGHS) (LAUGHTER) No pressure. (LAUGHTER CONTINUES) Standing there waiting ` a lot of stuff going round in the mind. The nerves kick in a wee bit. Wow. I've never seen him like that. No? No, never. Never. He's shitting tacks. He is absolutely shitting. It's quite bizarre that, potentially, somebody is going to just walk down that aisle and she could be... she could be my best friend. Oh, God. There they are. (CLEARS THROAT) Oh my God. I'm freaking out! I have not been in love with anyone for quite a few years now. I'm definitely ready. Yeah, I'm ready to have someone like that in my life. Yep. (EXHALES, MUTTERS) Oh my God. (EXHALES NERVOUSLY) Looks are obviously` you know, they're definitely part of it. And I'm hoping there will be a mutual physical attraction. If this husband of mine is not what I imagined ` if he was short and... I guess they have matched us for a reason. So I'm here to give it my all. (INDISTINCT CHATTER) (CHEERING) (SOFT, ROMANTIC MUSIC) (LAUGHTER) (LAUGHTER) Seeing the bridesmaids, I sort of had an inkling there that she was from good stock. (LAUGHS) Well, he's tall. That was the only thing we cared about. (TENSE MUSIC BUILDS) (DRAMATIC MUSIC) The wedding ceremony has finally begun for Tayler and Sam. At the altar, their eyes will meet for the very first time. (TENSE MUSIC) (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) Hi, I'm Sam. Nice to meet you. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE CONTINUES) We're matching. At first glance, he's nothing that I don't like. He's a really good-looking guy. Sam, meet Tayler. Tayler, meet Sam. I'd like to welcome you all here today to witness Sam and Tayler commit to one another. Amazing eyes. And I didn't really know how to turn around and say, 'You've got amazing eyes.' Sam and Tayler, please take each other's hands. Hands. Which way? Which way do we go? I don't know. (LAUGHTER) Don't know if the physical attraction is 100% there. He would be someone I would possibly go for, but he wouldn't be my first pick. I don't know what it is. But I don't feel that spark. Do you, Samuel Levi Bern and Tayler Ben Morgan come here without reservation to commit to each other today? I do. I do. Good. (LAUGHS) Hopefully getting to know him over the next few weeks, he will grow on me. Sam and Tayler, you may now share your vows with each other. (BREATHES DEEPLY) Life works in mysterious ways and today is one of those where a new journey begins. I never thought this would be the way I'd be meeting my future partner, who I now know is Tayler. I promise to let you know when you are making a slight error... in fashion judgment. (LAUGHTER) You will get to know me really well. I also do promise to be the most communicative person one can be as we step into this crazy journey together. I really look forward to knowing who you are. I felt like he was quite nervous, but at the same time, we were all nervous. Sam, today I take you as my partner. I promise... to be patient and trusting when you need space, to be crazy and spontaneous... Um, oh, crap. (LAUGHS) You got it. To do crazy and spontaneous things together that will make us laugh. I vow to keep you safe from things that scare you and pick you up when you are down. I can't wait to get to know you as days go on. It's real now. I know. You wanna be attracted to them straight away, but I try go beyond that and I try to think what's underneath. Sam and Tayler, you may now seal your union in your own special way. (LAUGHTER) Oh my God. How do you wanna do this? (LAUGHTER CONTINUES) Shake hands. Yeah. (LAUGHS) (APPLAUSE) Sam is usually kind of a PDA guy. I was quite shocked they didn't kiss. I present to you for the very first time, Sam and Tayler. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) My head is about to explode. I just got married. Like, it's just... I don't even know what to think. I'm speechless. I don't know if that's good; I don't know if that's bad. He's my husband. It's quite crazy. It's crazy, but it's really awesome at the same time. With Tayler and Sam through the hardest part, will they find a connection? Can you give me one kiss, please? No. Spark wasn't there. Really? And Julia and David are yet to take the plunge. (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) (INDISTINCT CHATTER) OK, guys. So can you please face each other? And, Sam, I need you to put your left hand on Tayler's shoulder. Like that? And, guys, you can be closer. I mean, you are married now. (LAUGHS) We're stuck together so we might as well. The photo shoot was... a little bit awkward. Hey, I'm taller than you. I will help. I feel awkward as (BLEEP). Don't worry. It's not that... Just like that. And the other one here. It does feel strange being physically close. I mean, you're pulling them right in. I'm like, 'Oh God!' Uh, can you give me one kiss, please? No. (LAUGHS) Can you try, please? Let's do it. We'll probably have to hold that too. Perfect. It is awkward because it's someone I've just met. It's like, 'What way do we even put our heads?' Like, God! You have really soft lips. Thanks. He said I had soft lips, (LAUGHS) which is really weird. So is that a good thing or a bad thing? It didn't feel real, or it didn't feel like there was a connection. There's no spark at the moment. Having handled the ceremony and photo shoot, Tayler and Sam must now meet each other's friends and family as a couple at the reception. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) The wedding reception is going to be hugely important. It's a great chance to get to know each other together, and you are going to have a room full of relatives and friends that are going to be hawke-eying this new partner and wanting to know, is he the right one for their relative? So, I'm not feeling hungry, eh? Nah, neither. It's the nerves. Yeah. So, where are you from? So I'm from Christchurch. OK. Well, originally from Taranaki. Oh, cool! I feel awkward. I feel awkward because I don't even know the guy. I mean... I just wanna know what my friends and family say. That's what I wanna know. I have one question I need to ask right now. Do you like cats? (LAUGHS) Are you a cat person? Um, I'm an everything person. Do you like dogs? Yeah. Do you like cats, too? For you, I will. Ooh! That's a good answer. TESSA: Sam seems pretty nervous. I'm gonna come see you. Sorry, I'm just going to say hi to a couple friends. OK. Sam, when he gets nervous and quite scared, he retracts. So I was a little bit concerned. How is Sam doing? He's been OK. He's actually been fine the last few days. But when it came to last night ` I stayed with him last night ` and he was pretty nervous. And then this morning, I think it really hit him. I think Tayler will be good for Sam. As long as he is confident and willing to put Sam in his place when he needs to be. Gidday, Jason! How you doing? Tayler! Hey, mate. All righty. What do you guys think? I really like him. You do? Yeah. So far. So, uh, congratulations. Cheers, mate. I really like him, eh? Yeah. From what I've heard from other people, like, everyone's saying that he's a nice guy. It's really one of the things that I really liked. As long as he's nice, eh? Yeah. So you have high hopes for the next month or so? Or the next, like, 10 years? I reckon there will be a lot` we'll be really chilled out. I really, really like him. So I'm feeling good. I think Tayler's feeling good, which makes everything really good! I think, obviously, when he came down, like, I was craning my neck to look at him. And I was looking at your face and you were, like, quite shocked, a little bit retracted. So was there an initial attraction there, or...? I think the initial` no. The initial attraction was, 'What?' So when you first saw him, you were like, 'No.' When I first saw him, I was like, 'No.' What's your`? Where do you think your reservations are? Um,... the spark wasn't there. Really? Yeah, I just thought... Why? I don't know why. So there wasn't the spark. Do you think there's going to be one, then? It's the moment Julia and David have been waiting for. They're about to meet for the very first time at the altar. (BREATHES DEEPLY) (APPLAUSE) Hi. Hi! Are you nervous? I'm Dave. Nice to meet you. Hi, I'm Julia. Julia. Yes. Nice to meet you. Oh my God. (LAUGHTER) (LAUGHS) Are you OK? I'm OK. Are you OK? I'm good, yeah. I'm great. Oh my God. On behalf of Julia and David, I would like to thank you all for coming along to be part of this rather special occasion. My first impression ` she was stunning. She looks amazing. And in that moment, I didn't feel nervous at all. And whilst your journey, so far, has only stretched itself across an epic few minutes, all partnerships have to start somewhere. You both love food and cooking. (LAUGHTER) Well, now we know. (LAUGHS) (LAUGHTER) I think he seems really cool. He seems like a really calm person. Slightly taller than him, though, which I'm a bit conscious of, (LAUGHS) but that's about it. I think now, then, would be a great time for you two to share some thoughts with each other. This is a unique alchemy, like a one-of-a-kind cocktail. A double shot of bravery with a pinch of crazy, topped with adventure. Here's to us and our journey together. Bottoms up. (LAUGHS) The comedy was in there, which is good. I was actually thinking about doing something very similar. So I think we might be on the same wavelength. (LAUGHS) Julia... (LAUGHS) Finally. Seeing you now for the first time is like listening to a song for the first time and knowing it would be my favourite. Aw! (CHUCKLES) Oh my God. I promise to give you time, honesty, loyalty and support. I'm asking you to take my hand today, and let's just walk this journey together. Aww. That was so sweet! Yeah! (BOTH LAUGH) And his vows were amazing. (LAUGHTER) Goes to show, he seems like a really emotionally intelligent person. It is my great pleasure to present to you all, David and Julia, husband and wife. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) It kind of felt, you know, kind of natural and nice, and just, uh... Yeah, I'm a good kisser, so I'm sure she loved it. (APPLAUSE) You all right? Married. Who would have thought? (LAUGHS) (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) Now I'm married, it's... I don't know how I feel. It'll come but, yeah, it's here. And I'm... Oh my God. (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) Pinky, blue. It's not very kitchen-y. Something light. Like... Okarito. Okarito. Goes well with Alexandra. Oh, look. Whoa, pink. Or... Hot Water Beach. Very relaxing. Pinky, blue. It's not very kitchen-y. But it is pretty... nursery. Hmm. Nursery? Or we could go Rangitikei River. (GASPS) Oh! (LAUGHS) You little beauty! So, the nursery. We're gonna be on that plane soon. Yes. (BIRDSONG) (INDISTINCT CHATTER) (LAUGHS) Don't know if I'm happy. I'm gonna have a proper talk to him. I just want five minutes with him to just... you know, just to make sure we're on the same level. Well, I wanna know your first reaction. What were your thoughts? What was your`? What, to you? Yeah, or just in general. Just everything ` me, the process, everything. Be honest. Straight up, I was like, 'Holy shit. I've actually cracked it.' Actually? Yeah. I was so happy. And then when you gave that little nervous smile... Oh God, I was so nervous. I was like, 'OK, he's as nervous as what I am.' Well, my first impressions of you... were good. It was good. It's the first time I've actually got to talk to Sam alone. Well, cheers to us for doing this. Yeah, cheers. How good is this? Is this your first time married? Don't answer that. Yeah. OK, good. I'm really happy to open up to Sam, and, yeah, I really wanna get to know him more. Have you been to Auckland before? Yeah, I've been to Auckland, like... years ago. Well, there's actually a funny story about that. I've had three open heart operations. Really? Yeah. So I had one when I was 2, when I was 6 and when I was 10. Good now? Yeah. Everything is all OK. So everything's all good. I've still got my own heart. You got your own heart? Yeah. In a couple hours of knowing him, he's told me about his heart surgery. He's had it 3 times. When people tell me that, I'm like, 'Shit. You're putting it all out on the line.' Why have you decided to get married? I've got a lot of love to give. I think... the people that I'm trying to find, or the person that I'm trying to find, doesn't see that. Getting to know him,... I feel like he's got a lot to give and I feel like he doesn't have someone to give that to. And I'm hoping that's me. What's the Instagram thing all about? I have a social media following. Yeah. Don't let that... Do not even worry about that. Yeah. That is not me. That is not who I am. It's just part of my journey. Yep. Um... Yeah. It's fashion related. Yep. That's good. I can get some tips off ya. Oh, 100%. (LAUGHS) I will help you. Don't worry. I think that... there is a bit of a spark. I don't know why it's happening now and why it didn't happen when I walked in. Two minutes out from coming out of those doors from where I came out, and... the lights flickered. That to me was kind of a good sign. If feels like there's a spiritual meaning there. Yep. And I was like... Are you a spiritual person? I'm not` I don't think that I'm a spiritual person. But just little things like that, I'm just like... You pick up on things. Holy shit. Oh, he just seems like such a nice and genuine guy. My opinion has 100% changed. Time to meet the family. Time to meet the friends. Tayler has grown on me. I mean, there's hope. There is 100% hope. There's 100% hope, and we've got a long road ahead. Um, and I just hope how both of us are feeling now is how we're both feeling in a few weeks' time. (SOFT PIANO MUSIC) (GRAND MUSIC) (INDISTINCT CHATTER) Yeah! Oh, thank you. God, you didn't say that. Thanks. Beautiful eyes. I looked at them! But I was all like... That was the first thing, though. When you walked up, I thought, 'Oh, man, he's got beautiful eyes.' Aw, thanks. Oh, Sam seems lovely. They seemed like they're getting on real well. They're sort of, like, looking at one another and communicating with one another, yeah. They seem like they're getting on really well. How do I`? I don't know. I'll go on top. (LAUGHTER) Whoo-hoo! (CHEERING) I feel like we've become pretty comfortable with each other already. I just really want to say that it's really nice to meet family. It's all going to be one, massive, um, big family and it's awesome to... (LAUGHTER) I don't know where I was going with that. (LAUGHTER) This is totally on the fly. I don't have my cue cards or a piece of paper, so... The thing that I like to do is try and make people laugh and smile. So seeing Sam smile,... I did get goosebumps a little bit. I'm stoked. I am stoked to meet you. (APPLAUSE) (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) Which is really weird, so... I don't know. I feel happy and calm. Cheers. I think... Sam's just made me quite happy and calm, as well. And I'm hoping that he's feeling the same. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) (BOTH LAUGH) Come on. I think there's like a big brick taken off my shoulders. Yeah, hard out. SAM: I'm actually feeling good. I'm not feeling as overwhelmed as I was a few hours ago. We got to know each other a little bit more, which was really comforting. So, what are your thoughts on, potentially, having to move to Christchurch? Um, look, it's a big enough city like Auckland. So I'm fully open to it. It seems like you've got your situation that's sort of here. And I didn't want to... But I think we all have a situation, sort of,... Yeah. ...wherever we are, and let's just try to juggle that. Yeah. Nothing's gonna happen ASAP as well. Nah. It's not like, 'You're moving out next week. Cool.' It's going to take time, so, yeah. I don't know how big the spark is, but I definitely know there's something there. And I'm looking forward to exploring where that goes. One bed. One bed, eh? So you're just warming up the bed for me. Yeah. Well, I guess, how do you want to do this? I'm pretty happy with one bed. We'll see about that. We'll see. We will see. That's not for anyone else's ears. I'm a gentleman. I don't kiss and tell. Well, potentially, kiss and tell. There's 100% going to be no action. And I can tell you that now. I'm not that type of person. (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) But while the perfect wedding... (BIRDS CRY) Having given themselves to each other at the altar, Julia and David have stepped aside for their first moment alone while the wedding photographer gets ready. (LAUGHS) Hi. Yeah, this is for you. Thank you so much. Aw, thanks so much. Yeah. Hey, and thank you. Oh, wow. Do you have yours? You actually... Yeah! That was so amazing. I was like, wow. Oh, really? Really impressed by that. Cos I'm a bit of a free spirit, so that was, like` it was perfect. Oh. Cheers. Yeah, thank you. I held it up the aisle and had it in my hand the whole time. It was really sweet. Guess what I did. What? Left it in the, um, hotel today. Oh no. I know. It's shit, eh? (CHUCKLES) God. Yeah, I was surprised, I was like, 'Where's your stone? 'You gave me the stone and I thought we had matching.' Dumb move, but anyway... (LAUGHS) OK, guys, can you please face each other and just hold your hands in front of you. Oh, this is the part I'm dreading the most. God, photos and cameras. I was like, 'Whoa, this is too much.' Don't... not really wanna. Should I just let that drape? No? Yeah, I think so. I've got no idea. You just (BLEEP) that. OK. (LAUGHS) But it` Yeah, surprisingly... He made me feel really comfortable. I think I was a lot more nervous than he was. Your hair's like... I know. Can I do this? Yeah, please. He's being really attentive and sweet and it's... yeah, it's really lovely. You can hold onto your greenstone. (LAUGHS) I know. I need it. Shall I...? Like this? Mm-hm. It's exactly what I'm looking for, so it's perfect. Yeah. My God. Oh, I am slightly taller than you. Oh! Maybe. Maybe. Yeah. (LAUGHS) It's OK. Her vibe ` I'm unsure. Might be just a little bit too early, um, to tell what she thinks of me. (CHUCKLES) I think we got the best smiles here. (LAUGHS) For another one, I need... You're gonna kiss her somewhere. So, this is where... Ready? She might not like me like that yet. There's definitely` Well, from my point of view, anyway, there's definitely an attraction there. Ready? We can do kiss, please? Oh God. That's so awkward. (LAUGHS) Can you please stay in a kiss for a while? Do you want to. Yeah, it's not` Yeah. It's just... Yeah. It's OK. OK. Yeah, OK? (LAUGHS) OK. So you want us to kiss. OK. All right. OK. She's a good kisser. QUIETLY: Oh my God. (BOTH LAUGH) Awesome. Thank you so much. Oh. Now you're gonna have red lipstick. Oh my God. You've got red lipstick all over you. (LAUGHS) And also I have got red lipstick everywhere. So that wasn't actually a very good idea. Hmm. The chemistry will come be and there needs to be time, and we need to just see. But, yeah, no, seems cool. INTERVIEWER: Yeah. Yeah. Yep. (LAUGHS) Don't press me on that! I don't like... I... (SIGHS) Yeah, he's` yes. (INDISTINCT CHATTER) OK. Do we`? After you, ma'am. Should we hold hands or...? Yes, we should. Yeah, we should do that. OK. Oh my God. This is so awkward. (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) With the ceremony and photographs behind them, the reception is probably the first opportunity for the newlyweds to relax a little. But the spotlight hasn't left them yet. Why have they put such a massive gap between us? Oh. So great job, because we all love espresso martinis, so that's exciting. Why, what's got that to do with? That's his job. What?! He is an entrepreneur. He bottled espresso martinis and sells them, like in a bottle. Did you not know that? No, we're supposed to, like` We haven't done that yep. Oh. Whoops. Have you guys been talking? With the reception in full swing, the bride is sharing first impressions. Can't wait to get to know him. Like, I really can't wait. As is the groom. There's a lot in common. Yeah. She just seems so social and I just... I need that. As well as gathering feedback from those most important to them. You seem so relaxed as well. Yeah. Like, there's nothing about you that's stressed. Yes. Yep. No, not at all. I feel it's gonna be great. She is so beautiful. She's so cool. She is fun. But there are always lingering reservations that could hold the relationship back... It's gonna be great and completely, totally fine with going back to the room and not... That's not gonna be awkward, I think it's gonna be great, yeah. Good. Whereas I thought it would be, but it won't be at all. OK. I wanna get back to him. All right, let's go. Cool, let's go. ...that they're trying to put out of their mind. Oh my God. Here's to the journey of getting to know each other. I'm looking forward to it ` I really am. Um, can I just` I've just gotta go and see the mum. Oh, yes. That'd be great. And then I'm gonna come back and spend some time with her. Right, um... I'm shitting myself now, meeting the mum. I'm gonna take a wee seat and sit down beside, yeah. Hey, you need to give me a wee hug. Is that OK? Well, could you bend down? I'm not getting up. (LAUGHTER) Oh, of course I will. Hello. Oh, OK. It's so lovely to meet you. I don't wanna put make-up on you. How are you doing? Oh, very nervous. Are you? I am, yes. Oh, don't be nervous. Why? Cos she's in good hands. I could see he likes her very much. Do you like cats? Yes, I love cats. Dogs? Um, I'm more cat than I am dog, but I love them both. Oh, we always had dogs and cats. OK. But I can't have a dog and neither can Julia. So we're into cats. Cats it is. Mum is my rock. She really is. I love her to bits and she's my everything, so it means a lot to me what she thinks. Oh, he seems really lovely. Yes. Like, really genuine. Mmm. And really` like, a really good person. Yeah, man, she's spot on. She is so beautiful. I can't wait to get to know him. He's very successful. Yes, I know. I know, Mum. I know. We won't go there. We won't go there. (SHUSHES) Oh, well, you and I can have all the cocktail drinks we want. Yes, yum! I think she likes him. But, obviously, they've got a lot more... They need to get to know each other a bit more. Attraction is important. They have gotta be attracted before they will even contemplate exploring the personality. Attraction comes first, then exploration of the personality comes second for many. He looks like a handsome Shrek. Oh my God. Don't say that. He kind of looks like when Shrek turns into a prince ` not Shrek. When Shrek turns into prince in the movie, he looks like that, and she looks like Fiona as a princess. Everyone thinks he's really handsome. Well... He is. He's a handsome, and he's muscular, he doesn't look like he's... What? (LAUGHS) Bridezilla's clawing it's way out. (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) (LAUGHTER) Yeah, kind of, where do you start? I know, exactly. I know. And I just wanna... Is this not so weird? Like, I'm sorry, but this is, like, the weirdest thing ever. I don't even now where you live, so I've got no idea. South Island? Yep. Ooh. Yeah. OK, good. Oh, OK. So you... Christchurch? Yes. Oh my God. Are you really? Yes. I'm in Dunedin. Oh my God. Dunedin. Really? Mmm. That's where you're from or...? Yeah. Wow. She's from Christchurch, everyone. Oh my God. You're gonna laugh at this. This is so funny. Um, but what we used to do, as a family, we'd drive to Christchurch and then we'd go and sit at the airport and we'd watch all the planes. Cos my dad's like an aviation nut and I've been an aviation nut ever since. Oh, wow, really? I can relate to that. My dad ` he is not alive. He passed away six years ago, today, actually, which is so weird and ironic, yeah. Oh my God. But he was a pilot, yeah. Oh my God! Yeah. He had a helicopter, like, a... Yeah, that was his thing. Wow. Dad is, um, I know, up there looking down, and, definitely, I think he'd be pretty, pretty proud and be like, 'Yeah! That's adventurous of you.' Do you like cricket? Love it. OK. It's something I hate, but that's all right. Is that right? LAUGHS: I hate cricket. Most women that I have met before that don't like cricket, it's because they think it goes for 10 hours a day. I hate cricket. It's like a 10-hour game, and it's... Nope. I'll introduce her to the fun version of the game. I mean, really, thank you for not taking one look at Dave and hightailing it outta here. (LAUGHTER) Just a wee word of warning. Oh, OK. I'm ready. Set your alarm early, because if Dave beats you to the bathroom, you're in for a long wait. (LAUGHTER) I've never met a man with such a thorough and rigorous beauty regime. Aww! He has more creams and lotions than your local chemist. The speeches were great. I'm so... and his friends are amazing. I love them. I sincerely hope that if you get to know Dave, even if it's just half as well as we know him, you'll love as much as we do. Um... (LAUGHS) GUESTS: Aww! (CHEERING, APPLAUSE) He's got some incredible people around him, like I do, so it's a good sign. She's hilarious. She can cook, and the way to a man's heart is through their stomach, right, Dave? (LAUGHTER) Um, yeah, yeah. (LAUGHTER) Why not? But meeting him and seeing you guys interact has actually touched my heart ` genuinely, it has. He seems lovely. Everybody says he's lovely and that's the most important part, cos I don't want to see Julia get hurt. Julia's life is like a Bridget Jones movie. (LAUGHS) But I just really hope that you've found your Mr Darcy, because no one deserves that more than Julia. (CHEERING) (SWEEPING MUSIC) (CHEERING) Can I give you a little peck? (ROMANTIC MUSIC) Oh, God! GUESTS CHANT: Kiss, kiss, kiss, kiss. Oh, hang on. All right, then. (CHEERING) Honestly, I am pleasantly surprised. I was thinking it might have been a bit of a disaster. And, personally, I was kinda half hoping that he was gonna be short and broke, so we could watch all hell break loose. (LAUGHS) Everyone's just got on so well. Yes, they have. And it's made things really, really easy. Yep. But she's still kinda blowing my mind. Aw! (CRICKETS CHIRP) (CHUCKLES LIGHTLY) That was exciting. Wasn't it? (LAUGHS) All right. Let me get this. OK. This is where it all begins. Thank you, hubby. You're welcome,... wifey. (LAUGHS) Are you in? Yes, I am. Great. The smile was there, the giggling's there. And as we've gone on during the night, you know, we've had some really good conversations and I'd like to just carry on with that. Body language can be incredibly telling to show us how into each other they may well be. How are you feeling? Or perhaps how not. Oh, I'm good. Good. Good. Exhausted, but really good. How about you? I'm good. Good. We'll be looking very closely at those non-verbal cues and what we see rather than what we just hear. Have some champers? Yeah, shall we? Should we? Yeah. (LAUGHS) Do you wanna crack it? Let's do it. (POP!) Cheers. Cheers. So, um... Hmm. There's the expectation of the intimacy and the kissing and the holding and the cuddling. That's gonna be a significant challenge for those that don't have that initial attraction. I'm not sure about intimacy yet. That will come... Yeah, we'll see (LAUGHS) (SIGHS) To be honest, I'd rather just take things slow. And now we can relax. Yep. Yep. Yes. And you can ask me 50... ...thousand questions? 50,000 questions. Yeah. I've got so much to ask you. I'm really happy. I'm glad it's her. Um, she's adorable. I feel really good. Comfortable and... he's really lovely. And, yeah, I feel good about it. I really do. (BELL TOLLS, HEARTBEAT THUMPS) (MAJESTIC MUSIC) (DAVE LAUGHS) Hi! Guess what? (LAUGHS) We're still together. Yeah, we are. All six couples are waking up to face the first day of their married lives. That's a good breakfast. Yeah, it is. We were pretty knackered, actually... Mm-hm. ...when we got back to the room, so we just crashed. (LAUGHS) And then we realised... (LAUGHS) we had a great night's sleep ahead of us (LAUGHS) So I've got my earplugs. Yeah, and I've got a wee mouth guard. So... (LAUGHS) So, we're` cos we're snorers. Pretty sexy couple, really, aren't we? Oh, look at these hotties. (LAUGHS) Should we give 'em a kiss? (LAUGHS) So we survived our first night. Just. Just. Yeah. Mm-hm. I can feel the sleep-in. There wasn't much sleep, was there? No. Great. We need to pack our bags up and get ready to go soon. On honeymoon. KSENIA: Have you packed? I'm on my bed. Yeah, see. You got it. How was your bed? Perf` Beautiful. Honeymoons are a time to drop the barriers and start the bonding process. It's just all fun, fun, fun from now on in. We're gonna be on that plane soon. Yes. Off to Bali. Yes! Reality sets in for our couples. Probably two hours of my life I'm never gonna get back. And over the next few days... Hi. Can I see your boarding pass, please? 39G. Go straight then to the right, please, sir. Thank you. Thank you. ...they will share,... explore and reveal everything to each other as their relationships take off. YUKI: Happy now? Oh yeah. Happy husband, happy wife. (LAUGHS) I'm about to have my first bite of kebab. Let's see. Oh wow. That is hot. Ooh, yep. (MONIQUE LAUGHS) No. No. Is it really spicy? Bad. Bad, bad, bad. Show us on the map. Ahh... Out of the wedding dresses and suits and into the planes and transit lounges, the reality hits home. It's, um` It's been crazy. It's been` Thinking about got married for, like, two days ago. Yeah, I just can't believe, um,... this is all happening, really. I feel like I know him for long time. This is weird, really. With the big things out of the way, even little things become amplified... David's been nothing but incredible. Like, he's just been so sweet. He, like, made me pillow bed to sleep on when I came back and he's literally just everything I've been looking for ` just so sweet and amazing. ...as everyone learns the intimate and personal details. So, do you do social media? I've got Facebook and Instagram. And do you understand what the term... 'influencer' is? I guess in layman's terms, it's probably just to influence people to... Yeah, pretty much. ...to get into a product. Is it? Yep. Before, um, I came onto this show, in this experiment, I actually had a social media following. Oh, OK. But I'm not gonna show you just yet. But I will. I just wanted to let you know that it is there. Hoping with Sam, it's going good. We'll have good chats along the way, and we get along still, so that's a bonus. When can I follow? You can follow after our honeymoon. I'll block you until then. (LAUGHS) The honeymoon is a real testing time. Both families have had a great time, think they're a great couple. Then they take off and they have to share a confined space together. Oh my Gosh. This looks incredible. We're about to enter in our hotel room. Oooh! Oh my`! Oh my God. Holy! Holy sh`! We have our own pool! Oh my gosh. Wow. Oh, this is the best. I dropped my bag in my excitement. Finally in Bali with our own private pool. Just got to our hotel. Look how awesome that looks. Hubby is over there. Do I say hubby? There he is. The rose-coloured glasses fall away. You're beginning to see someone who's real. Wow. Oh, shit. Sorry, wifey. There she is. (LAUGHS) And this is where we begin to see communication skills and willingness to trust the process kick in. Pretty knackered. Oh! Ah. Bye! As the honeymoons get underway,... I'll point out all the things I know. All right. ...some relationships start to blossom. Are you happy? Yeah. (LAUGHS) We definitely didn't think that the marriage was gonna be this... easy. While others... Yeah. Ooh! Holy sh`! Are you all right? ...start going downhill. He's just... He's too nice. Personally, I think he might be trying too hard. I think it's a bit too much. What's that tattoo mean? There's a bit of a story behind that. (BLEEP).
