Maika's in third on 100 points, and Bethany is in fourth in 40 points. Bethany, of course ` haven't done your specialist subject round yet, so you're about to do that now. What have you chosen? Blueprinter. Thank you very much for your choice. Here's how we play Blueprinter. Put your memory under pressure for rapid recall of maps, plans and diagrams. Blueprinter requires pinpoint accuracy for point-scoring power. She thinks she has a pretty good memory, but how is it under pressure? Let's find out now. Bethany, please step forward. (TENSE ELECTRONIC MUSIC) So, Bethany, you're gonna have 30 seconds to remember the location, then 30 seconds to put in your answers. Are you ready to play Blueprinter? Yep. Let's get into it. Where are we today? Nice and cold in Antarctica. Your time starts now. (TENSE PIANO MUSIC) Although covered in ice, Antarctica is the world's largest desert. This continent is almost double the size of Australia, and also holds the record for the lowest every recorded temperature on Earth ` a nippy negative-89.2 degrees Celsius. (MUSIC CONTINUES) Five seconds left for Bethany. And that is time. Hopefully, you managed to get all of those. 30 seconds now to input them. (SUSPENSEFUL PERCUSSIVE MUSIC) Halfway, Bethany. Time up, there. Unable to get those final two in. That's all right, though. Some solid answers put in, but were they correct? How do you feel about what you've put in, Bethany? (GROANS) Might have got a couple wrong. Little bit nervous, but that's all right. Fingers crossed. Let's see how you did. Got the first one right, so that's nice. Missed that second one, though. Got Casey. Missed the fourth. Got the fifth. And the sixth. Missed that one. And the last one there. So, four total correct. Still a really good job, Bethany. Thank you so much for playing Blueprinter. It's Fatima in first place on 150 points. Lachie is just behind her on 140 points. Bethany is on 120 points, and Maika is on 100 points. So, I'm sorry to say, Maika, your time on Brain Busters has come to an end. Thank you so much for playing. Just missed out by a few points there, but going home with a $100 bank account. What are you going to spend the money on or save up for? Um, something to do with sports or clothing. Nice choice. Maika, thank you so much for playing. So, we have three more players remaining, and we need to get down to two, because, Mikey, I'm getting excited for that Brain Buster. The odds just got better for our three remaining players, because very soon, they'll be joining the king here on the ultimate obstacle course to turn their points into dollars. Thanks, Mikey! Who will it be, though? To help decide, we have the Brain Teaser. Now, we're already gone through four of our specialty subject rounds, which means we have two remaining, and those choices are Reo Rangatira and Identifier. So, Lachie, Bethany, and Fatima, it is up to you to pick, so please lock in your votes now. And everyone has locked in those votes. Lachie, let's start with you. What did you vote? Identifier. Thank you. Bethany, you chose...? Identifier. Two, and can we make it three out of three? Fatima, what have you picked? Identifier. There you go. The people have spoken. This is how we play Identifier. Arrange, eliminate, and identify to pass the science test and stack up the points. So, we are ready to play Identifier, and as you can see by those scores, it is going to be close. Very much anyone's game. In fact, only a question right or wrong separates you. Good luck. 30 points if you get it right. 30 points will be lost if you buzz in and get it right. So, let's play Identifier. (READS QUESTION) Bethany. The head, the thorax, and the abdomen. Quick to lock in. Currently in third place. She needs this to be right to go ahead. (DING!) And she is. Nice work, Bethany. (READS QUESTION) Fatima. Orange,... aluminium can, leather shoe. She had the lead. Can she regain it? (DING! BUZZER BLARES) Needed to swap around those bottom two. (READS QUESTION) Fatima knows she needs this one. Himalayas, Arizona,... Mercury. Can she get those points ack? (DING!) She can. Nice job, Fatima. Number four. Eliminate the three materials` Lachie. Glass, water, plastic. Lachie now knows he needs this one to avoid elimination. Has he got all of them? (BUZZER BLARES) Missed out on water. Needed to change that one to rubber. Last up. In which order` Bethany. Hypothesis, aim, conclusion. This will give Bethany the clear lead. Let's see if she's correct. (BUZZER BLARES) Unable to do so, but some very good answers had here for our Identifier Brain Teaser. Fatima has taken the lead back with 150 points. Bethany is on 120 points, and Lachie, ever so close, comes in third with 110 points. So, Lachie, that does mean you have missed out on taking on the Brain Buster, now eliminated from the game, but thank you so much for playing. It's been an awesome time having you here on the show. Going home with a $100 bank account, so what are you gonna use the money for? Save it for a PC. Bit of a gamer? What games do we play? Battlefront, Rocket League, Minecraft. Nice stuff. Thank you so much, Lachie. So, as for Bethany and Fatima, it is now on to the Brain Buster. Oh, yeah! Two hemispheres, two tracks to the finish line, but only one winner. Who's it going to be? Stay right there. We'll be right back after the break. Calculator! (CHRIS READS QUESTION) (READS ANSWERS) * Calculator! In which year did New Zealand change its currency to dollars? In 1967. Kia ora, and welcome back to Brain Busters. Our four players have taken on Mega Memory, their specialist subject round, plus the Brain Teaser, and now, our top two will tackle the Brain Buster! I'm joined here with our two finalists ` Bethany and Fatima. Bethany, are you ready to go? Yeah. 'Yeah' is good. Mean. Fatima, you set? Yep. All right. Hop on to your seats, and let's get ready to rock and roll. Here we go. Three, two, one, go! Fatima and Bethany both entering the Brain Buster. Both players are close on the scoreboard, but will it be a close race as they head down the neurotransmitters? Crossing the molecule steps, careful not to fall. There's Bethany's code. She is the first to enter the corpus callosum. But Fatima not far behind. Bethany at the hippocampus. Has she remembered the code? Yes! And Fatima? Nice one! Now for the parietal lobe. Fatima is so close behind. That one slip from Bethany could change everything. And they've made it up, and into the tunnel. Ooh, it's gonna be a close race! I can feel it. Oh, it's tricky work getting out of those tunnels. Bethany now slightly ahead as they cross the frontal lobe. It's all hanging in the balance. They are on their way to the DNA molecule ladder with the switches. Who will find the correct combination first? When the lights switch colour, they've got it. Ooh, who's it gonna be? Oh, Bethany's done it! She can now head through the basal ganglia, but Fatima is right behind her. One final obstacle, and... Bethany takes it out! Well done, both of you! There we go. As Fatima pushes the button,... Good job. Good job. ...and what a finish to the race it was. Congratulations to both of you on what was a fantastic effort, as they both congratulate each other. Great sportsmanship, guys! But, unfortunately, Fatima, that does mean you have been eliminated from Brain Busters. Thank you so much for playing today. You are going home with a $100 bank account. What are you going to do with the money? I'm gonna save it up for an overseas trip I'm having next year. Oh, excellent stuff! Enjoy that. As for you, Bethany, it means you are one step closer to turning all that knowledge into dollars, so lets get ready to take on Amygdala! So, welcome to the final round, Bethany ` the Amygdala. So, how it's going to work is we're gonna combine your points, which, of course, was 120, with Fatima's points, which was actually 150. So, she scored more than you, and you get to steal those points for a combined total of $270. (EXHALES SHARPLY) $27 for each question you get correct. 10 questions. Do your best, and let's get into it. All right. In which sport does New Zealand Paralympian Sophie Pascoe compete? Swimming? Can we get those first dollars on the board with swimming? (DING!) Do you think you've got it? Yeah. (DING!) She does! What is the deepest ocean in the world? Atlantic Ocean? (BUZZER BLARES) Unfortunately not. The correct answer was the Pacific Ocean. Oh. Which British comedian wrote Billionaire Boy and Gangsta Granny? David Walliams? (DING!) Yes, it is! What is the longest river in the world? The Nile? 6695km long it is. Is it the Nile, though? (BUZZER BLARES) (GROANS) Softball was the correct one there. Oh. Your final question. Salt is traditionally paired with what other condiment on Western dining tables? Pepper? Is Bethany right with pepper? (DING!) Yes, she is, and that does complete the Amygdala. As we can see, $189. Bethany, a big congratulations to you. What are you going to spend the money on? Um, probably go shopping with my friends. I'm sure they are going to love that. Well, Bethany, thank you for playing Brain Busters.
