And don't forget, you can play from home as well. So let's meet today's brain busters! Captions were made with the support of NZ On Air. www.able.co.nz Copyright Able 2020 Nau mai, haere mai. Welcome to Brain Busters. Today, we have four more players hoping they've got what it takes to be called the ultimate brain buster. Now, first up, they will go through their specialist subject round from our six options, hopefully score enough points to avoid elimination and stay in the game. So let's make our players today. First up, we have Arabella. - Arabella, welcome to the game. - Hi. - When you're not at school, what do you like to do? - I enjoy roller-skating because it gives me the ability to do a lot of things that I can't do on feet. - Oh. Like, what would that be, Arabella? - Well, there's a lot of jumps and stuff you can do, and I also find you can go faster with less effort. - Nice. Very cool. Thank you so much for coming on the show, Arabella. We have Emily. Emily, what's your passion? - My passion is activism. So, like, fighting for rights that people haven't achieved already. - Awesome. Go you, Emily. Thank you for coming on the show. We also have Johnny. Johnny, right into photography. How did you get into that? - Well, I saw just my friends would go out on to the beach and I'd take photos of them. And so it just became a hobby. So it's really fun. - Nice. Johnny, you are first to take on your specialist subject round. What have you chosen to play? - Sequencer. - Thanks very much, Johnny. Let's play sequencer. He's got a keen eye for photography, but can his eye pick out the right sequence? Let's find out. Johnny, please step forward. Best of luck, Johnny. First up today, 20 points for each correct sequence. Let's get some points on the board for you. Here we go. Here's your first one. Have you got this one right? Yeah, nice work, Johnny. Really great finish there. Five correct. You should be pretty proud of yourself there. Thank you so much for playing Sequencer. - Thank you. So, next up, it is Tristan. Tristan, what are we playing? - Blueprinter. - Excellent choice, Tristan. Let's play Blueprinter. Unbeaten in football, but can he continue his winning way? Tristan, please step forward. How's the memory, Tristan? - All right. - We're about to test it now. 30 seconds on the clock for you to memorise where we are and all the locations, and then you're gonna have 30 seconds to put in your answers. Best of luck. Let's see where we are. We're at Orana Wildlife Park. Good luck, Tristan. Your time starts now. On the outskirts of Christchurch is Orana Wildlife Park, bringing some of the world's most fascinating creatures to the Garden City. It's also the home of New Zealand's only gorillas, including a silverback, the world's largest living primate. Just five seconds left, Tristan. And that is time. All the best. We're now gonna put 30 seconds on the clock for you to put in your answer. That time starts now. 15 seconds left, Tristan. But not that you need the time at all. Super quick on that. Must be pretty confident if you didn't need all the time. - Well, a bit unsure about one of them, but, yeah. - Which one are you unsure about? - Probably the wallaby. - OK, well, hold off and see what happens when we get to that one. OK. Let's go. First up, lion. Yep, nice. And the zebra. Missed out on the kea, though. And the porcupine. Here we go. That's another one. Ah, yeah, that wallaby. But finish strong with rhinoceros. So really good stuff, Tristan. Thank you so much for playing Blueprinter. But of course, we are only halfway through our specialist subject rounds. And all of our players are thinking ahead to that brain buster. - I hope they're ready, Chris, because the brain buster is always ready. Don't underestimate this bad boy, because looks are deceiving. If they want to turn their points into dollars, it ain't gonna be easy, Chris. - No, it won't, Mikey. Thanks very much for that. And don't forget, of course, we'd love for you to play from home. Just head online to HeiHei Games. Do not go anywhere. We'll be right back with more Brain Busters. * Nau mai, hoki mai, welcome back to Brain Busters. Thank you so much for joining us. Just before the break, we had Johnny and Tristan take on these specialist rounds. And next up, it is Emily. Emily, what have you chosen to play? - Equaliser. - Thanks very much, Emily, let's play Equaliser. Can Emily avoid elimination? Let's find out. Please step forward. Best of luck, Emily. 20 points for each equation. Here we go. Nice start. Next up... You got it. - (CHUCKLES) Mm-hm. Oh, sorry. Oh! 33. - CHUCKLES: That's the one. Nice work, Emily. - (GASPS) Oh. - Surprised she got that one. Nice work, Emily. Your final equation is... Is correct. You seem pretty happy with yourself. - Definitely! - You did a great job. Thank you so much for playing Equaliser. - Thank you. Which means, Arabella, it's just you left to tackle your specialist subject. What have you chosen? - Spellbinder. - Thanks very much, Arabella. Let's play Spellbinder. She had the lead after Mega Memory. Can she reclaim it, though? Arabella, please step forward. Good luck, Arabella. Had a really strong Mega Memory. Let's see if we can back it up with Spellbinder. Here we go. Your first word is... reasoning. Correct. Visibility. Fast spelling that one. Infectious. Doing great, Arabella. Your next word is sphere. Really solid spelling. Alphabet. Collaboratively. Well done. Your final word is... potential. I-A-L. You should be very, very proud of yourself for what was a great round of Spellbinder. Arabella reclaims the lead. Which means we have a tie between Johnny and Tristan. So we now come to our tiebreaker round. This is sudden death. So, Johnny and Tristan, it'll just be the two of you playing in this round. I'll ask a question. The first player to buzz in and get it correct will go through to the next round. But if you buzz in and get it incorrect, the other player will go through. All make sense? Good luck. Here comes your tiebreaker question. New Zealander Mark Todd has competed at seven Olympic Games riding what kind of animal? Johnny. - Horse. Is correct. Congratulations, Johnny. You are through to the next round. Tristan, that does mean, I'm sorry to say, you have been eliminated from Brain Busters. It's been great having you on the show. What are you going to do with your money? $100 bank account. It's yours. - Maybe buy some new clothes, some new shoes, something like that. - Nice choice. Good luck for the rest of the football season as well, Tristan. As for our three remaining players, though, it's one step closer to the brain buster. - Tahi down, toru to go. Very soon, our top two finalists will be taking on the brain buster. So you better be ready, cos it's about to go down. - Kia ora, Mikey. Before we can get to the brain buster, though, we do have our brain teaser. Now, all of our players today have gone through their specialist subject round, and we are left with two options for our players to choose from. They are... So Arabella, Emily and Johnny, please select which one you would like to play now. Thanks very much, everyone. Let's start with Arabella first. She chose Identifier. Emily voted for Identifier as well, and Johnny nodding his head. What has he voted for? Identifier. Thanks very much, everyone, for that. Let's play Identifier. So Johnny narrowly managed to avoid elimination just before. You are still currently in that elimination spot, so some big points are needed from you. And of course, Arabella and Emily, you need to try keep him out. Good luck. Here is your first Identifier question. Emily. - Heart, blood vessels and blood. - Emily quick to lock in those options. And a nice smile because she is correct. Emily. - The octopus, the cockroach and the shark. - Emily trying to extend her lead. And she does. Here is your final one. Arabella wants to get in on the action. - Lightning, wind speed, wavelength. - Can Arabella, increase her total here? Yes, she can. Nice work, Arabella. And just like that, that is our brain teaser done and dusted. So let's take a look now at the updated leaderboard. Johnny, it does mean, I'm sorry to say, you have been eliminated from Brain Busters. Great having you on the show, though. Get to go home with a $100 bank account. What are you going to do with the money? - I'm probably going to use it on some camera equipment for photography. - Perfect choice for you, Johnny. All the best with all the photography stuff as well. If you ever need a model, just let me know. All right? - OK. - That was the most unassuring OK I've ever heard. Thank you, Johnny, for coming on to the show. As for our two remaining players, it is now time for the brain buster. This is where champions are made. Only the best of the best make it this far, but only one will be leaving victorious. Who's it going to be? Stay right there. Who's it going to be? Stay right there. * Kia ora and welcome back to Brain Busters. Over the course of the show, four players have now become two. So let's head over to Mikey to see who can be called the ultimate brain buster. - I'm joined here with our two finalists, Arabella and Emily. Arabella, keeping fish. What's that about? - Oh, well, I just love seeing the look of joy on their faces when I give them their dinner. - Nice. Well, let's hope that they're still joyful by the end of this race. And Emily, cricket's your thing? - Mm-hm. Love it. - Ever hit a six out of the oval? - Heck, yeah. - Safe! Let's jump up on to our ziplines and let's get ready to fly. Nice. Here we go. Three, two, one. Go! It all comes down to this for Emily and Arabella. Who will take out the ultimate obstacle course? Emily is first down the Neurotransmitter. Big jump. Arabella next. And on to the Molecule Steps. Nice balancing there, Emily. Here they are given a four-digit code to remember. But the Corpus Callosum comes first. It's looking 50-50, but there can only be one winner. Codes are in. Have they remembered correctly? Yes! Ooh-wee! It's going to be close. The race is really on now as they climb the Parietal Lobe. But the tunnel is their next challenge. Arabella trying a mean shuffle, while Emily tries a low crawl. That may have slowed her down a bit. Next up, the Frontal Lobe. Arabella is already swinging her way to the DNA Molecule ladder. Emily not too far behind, though. They need to switch the lights by finding the correct number combination Arabella's in the lead. Can she change the light before Emily catches up? Here they go! Arabella's activated the switch and on her way down to the end of the course. The Basal Ganglia is the last obstacle to complete. Arabella's having no troubles with it. Go, girl, go. (BOOM! WHOOSHING) Amazing run by both opponents today. Emily rocking and rolling to the end. Nicely done, girls. That was a tough race. I'm sure Chris will agree. - As Emily finishes up, nice work, Arabella. I'll gets you to come across this way. We'll start with Emily first. I love your technique there in the under-overs, doing the nice roll. How was the rest of the race, though, for you? - Oh, it was awesome. It was really fun, especially doing the obstacle course. - You loved it? - Yeah, definitely. - Well, hey, Emily, congratulations. Second today on Brain Busters. - Whoo-hoo! - And you get to go home with a $100 bank account. So what are you going to do with the money? - Probably going to start saving up and definitely buy a new MacBook. - Oh! Very, very flash choice. All the best with everything. Thank you so much once again for coming on the show, Emily. Arabella, congratulations. You had taken out Brain Busters for today. How was the obstacle course for you, first of all? - Well, I was really nervous. that I was going to do something wrong. But in the end, I enjoyed it and I'm very pleased I got through it. - Absolutely. And now you've come away with the win. So congratulations once again to you. For Arabella, it is on to Amygdala. Arabella, congratulations on making it to the Amygdala. How does it feel to be standing here? - It feels really great. I mean, I was just hoping to make it past the first round. - Well, you did more than that. You did amazing, obviously, in your specialist subject round, Spellbinder. The only way you missed out on was, of course, potential. And I think, Arabella, you have potential to get a perfect score; win you a whole lot of money. Wanna know how much you're playing for? - 400, I believe. - You got it. $400. $40 per question. Let's try and get you all of that money. Here we go.
