Four players, three rounds; two players race, one winner takes it all. Kia ora, I'm Chris Kirk, and this is Brain Busters. Get ready for a series of escalating rounds where we test our players on maths, memory, te reo, spelling and more, before it all leads up to this. - Keeping it fresh here with your man Mikey Falesiu. If our top two contestants want to succeed here on the Brain Buster, speed and skill are going to be key ingredients. But there can only be one winner, though. Can't wait. Neither can I, Mikey. Thank you very much for that. And don't forget, you can play from home as well. So let's meet today's Brain Busters. (EXCITING THEME MUSIC) Captions by James Brown Captions were made with the support of NZ On Air. www.able.co.nz Copyright Able 2020 Nau mai, haere mai, and welcome to Brain Busters. Thank you so much for joining us today as four more players try to battle it out to see if they've got what it takes to be called the ultimate Brain Buster. Now, as always, we'll start with our specialist subject rounds, where they can choose from our six options. Hopefully our players will get enough points to stay in this game and avoid elimination. So let's make those plays now. First up, we have Lily. Lily, welcome to the show. How are you feeling about being on Brain Busters? - A bit nervous, but really excited. - Right into your dancing as well, Lily. What kind of dancing is it? - I do contemporary jazz, hip-hop and tap. - Oh, very nice. Multitalented. Good luck to you on the show, Lily. Next up, we have Harrison. Love reading, Harrison. What are you reading at the moment? - I'm reading Pride and Prejudice at the moment. Wow! That's a full on book to be reading. - Yup. - Enjoy it? - Yeah, it's pretty good so far. - I can't say I actually know what it's even about. Can you give me a quick summary? It's kind of set in old England, and I'm not really sure what it's about too far, - because I'm not that far in. - Makes sense. The journey is what it's all about, right? - Yup. - And so too hear on Brain Busters. Good luck to you, Harrison. Next up, we have Brynne. Now, Brynne, I hear you're right into your athletics. Are you field or track, firstly? - I mostly do long distance running. - What kind of distance are we talking about? - Well, anything from 3km to 10km. How do you run for so long? - Not sure. - Just do it? - Yeah. - Just keep running, as Dory would say. But it's obviously not swimming. Makes sense in my head. Great to have you on the show, Brynn. And last but not least, we've got Lucas. Great to have you here, Lucas. How do you think you're gonna go on Brain Busters today? - Hoping to do pretty good. - Pretty good. I'm sure you're going to do amazing. I'm sure all of our players today are going to do a fantastic job. So let's test them right now and get into our first round. It's Mega Memory. 10 points if our players buzz in and get it right. But if our players buzz in and get the question wrong, they will lose 10 points. So let's get into it. 90 seconds on the clock. Lucas has 40 points, Harrison is on 30 points, Brynne has 20 points, and Lily is on zero points. So we now move into our specialist subject rounds. And first up today, it is Lily. So, Lily, what have you chosen to play? - Identifier. - Great choice. Let's play Identifier. She can identify a whole lot of dances, but can she identify our answers today? Lily, please step forward. (DRAMATIC MUSIC) 20 points, Lily, for each correctly identified answer. And, of course, can't lose any points in this round, so give it all a go. Good luck. Here comes your first one. Sure you don't want to swap out one of them for Kanye West? No. Locked in. Let's see. Another correct answer. Nice work. Let's get back on track with this one. Nicely done, Lily. Eliminate the three terms associated with rainbows. Needed 'reflection' as our last option there. And our finally Identifier, Lily. Locked in for our final Identifier question. He comes your first word. Submerge. Essential. Perfect. Spherical. Precautionary. You're doing really good here, Brynne. Next up, hospitable. Very fast with the spelling as well. Rhetorical. Your final words is... honour. Is correct. And if I'm not mistaken, that is a perfect score. Brynne, you did amazing, and you are so quick with your spelling as well. Thank you so much for tackling Spellbinder. Brynne now has the lead with 160 points. Lily is on 60 points, Lucas has 40 points, and Harrison has 30 points. So a really strong start to our specialist rounds by our players. And two of our players are still to go after the break. But of course, they are all wondering if they are going to be able to head to the Brain Buster. - Here on the Frontal Lobe, one wrong move could cost. Hopefully not with today's final two. I'm confident they've got this. They sure do, Mikey. Kia ora for that. And don't forget, you can play from home as well. Simply head online to Heihei Games. Do not go anywhere. We'll be right back after the break. * Nau mai, hoki mai. Welcome back to Brain Busters. Just before the break, we had Lily and Brynne take on their specialist subject rounds, and next up we have Harrison. - So, what have you chosen to play, Harrison? - Sequencer. Thank you very much. You're gonna have 30 seconds to take a look at what our Blueprinter is, and then you're gonna have 30 seconds to put in all of your answers. Hope your memory's on point today. Let's take a look at what our Blueprinter is. It's the LA Metro. Your time, Lucas, starts now. It's been great having you on the show. And of course, she gets to go home with a $100 bank account. So, what are you going to do with that money, Lily? - I've wanted to learn how to sew, so I think I'm going to spend it on costume supplies. Great choice, Lily. Make sure you send us some photos of how you get on doing that, as well. Thank you so much, Lily. And congratulations to our three remaining players. It's one step closer to the Brain Buster. - The pressure is now on. Three remaining players, two finalists, but only one will get the chance to tackle the Amygdala. Kia ora, Mikey. Now, before we can get to any of that, we need our Brain-Teaser round to separate our players. So, we have already gone through our specialist subject rounds, and we have two options remaining for our players to choose from today. They are Reo Rangatira or Equaliser. So, Harrison Brynne and Lucas, please decide which one you would like to play now. Thank you, everyone, for your votes. We'll start with Harrison, who has chosen... Reo Rangatira. Brynne has voted for Equaliser. So it comes down to Lucas, who has chosen... Equaliser. Thank you, everyone, for your votes, and let's play Equaliser. Let's get into our Brain-Teaser. Now, Harrison, a bit of ground to be made up if you want to stay in this game. It doesn't help when your opponents chose the round. We are playing for our Brain-Teaser, as well. But best of luck to you and to our other two players as well. 30 points if you buzz in and get it right. Buzz in and get it wrong, though, you will lose 30 points. Here is your first equation. Brynne. 198. Is correct, Brynne extending her late. Seventy two divided by four equals. (BUZZER) 18 was our answer. 68. Correct. Nice work, Lucas. Your final equation is... - Harrison. - 146? So, so close, Harrison. 145 was our final answer there. Thank you, everyone, for playing the Brain-Teaser today. Let's take a look now at the leader board. Brynne has 190 points, Lucas has 170 points, and Harrison ends on 40 points So I'm sorry to say, Harrison, you have been eliminated from Brain Busters. You get to go home with a $100 bank account as well. So, what are you going to do with the money? - I want to save up to go to England and go to a concert. - Oh, cool. What concert? - It's by a band called Caravan Palace. - Awesome, Harrison. All the best with that. Thank you so much for coming on the show. And congratulations to Brynne and Lucas, who are our two players. It's time for the Brain Buster. - It's almost crunch time for our two finalists. They will go head to head on the Brain Buster, but there can only be one winner. We'll find out who very soon. Calculator! Let's jump on our ziplines, and let's get ready to fly. Here we go. Three, two, one, go! It's time to see who will take out the ultimate obstacle course. Will it be Lucas or Brynne? Brynne seems to have to better start, getting down the Neurotransmitter first. But Lucas is right behind her. Brynne across the Molecule Steps with no problems and sussing out her code, while Lucas does the same on his side. Into the Corpus Callosum for both players, but have they kept their codes in their head? Let's find out. Brynne's got it! And she's also got the lead so far. The Parietal Lobe is next up. Lucas now at the Hippocampus. Nicely done. He's not far off from the Tunnel Web, and Brynne is clearly having no troubles whatsoever. If Lucas can get in and out of the tunnel in time, he might just be in luck. But Brynne is already on the Frontal Lobe, heading for the DNA Molecule Switches, which is also the make-or-break part of this course. Lucas on his way too. Here's Brynne trying to find the correct combination on the switches. Lucas is close. There they go! And now she can head through the Basal Ganglia to the finish. Lucas nearly at the switches. A great race from Brynne. Good job! (WHOOSH!) Lucas had a really good run there. It's not an easy course ` take it from me. Superior work by both players, Chris. - Big slam on the buzzer for Lucas to finish it. Bring it across this way, Brynne. We'll start with you, Lucas. How did we find the obstacle course? - It was good. - We enjoyed the Brain Buster? - Yeah. Nice. Hey, thank you so much for coming on to the show, Lucas. Second place today. - And of course, a $100 bank account ` it is all yours. - Yes. So, what are you going to do with that money, Lucas? - I'm gonna go for a trip to Mt John Observatory. - Awesome. A fantastic long distance runner, and you've run yourself all the way to the final round. - Congratulations. How does it feel? - I'm really excited. Great to hear. You've done an amazing job as well. Of course, a perfect score in your Spellbinder round. So let's take a look and see how many points you got. 190, which is a great effort. And then Lucas also got 170 points. We combine that together, and you're playing for $360. - A lot of money. - Yeah. Shall we try to win as much as we can? - Yes. - Excellent. Here comes your first Amygdala question.
